The stones and sand used in this one-of-a-kind key ring have been collected directly from the great lakes by the artist and set in a large, sturdy pendant tray on a 1-inch key ring. Care was taken to showcase the materials as they appear when found. The stones were left in their natural state, and covered with a durable countertop-quality glaze to make them appear wet, as if waves were still lapping over them. The stones included in this key ring are, from top to bottom: Quartz, deposited by melting glaciers and tumbled in the lake for thousands of years, a dark piece of Leland Blue, an industrial foundry glass dumped into the lake as a waste product in the 1800's, but made beautiful and collectible by its time in the lake and its rarity, and a horn coral fossil, sometimes referred to as Charlevoix Stone, the remains of ancient coral that lived hundreds of millions of years ago.
