Wonderful starter kit, great little instrument, no adjustment for intonation, finicky tuner gadget
This kit is wonderous. There are minor annoyances, but this ukulele brings a smile every time I see it, even when it is in the gig bag. It's so cute. The instrument itself is nicely executed. I didn't drill into it to see if it really is carbon fiber. The finish is mat black and any layers of carbon fiber are hidden under that finish. Whatever it is made of is fairly rugged and it hasn't randomly re-tuned itself during the wild humidity swings we've had around here lately.I mostly play bass. I couldn't resist this ukulele because it is cute, carbon fiber, and most importantly - four strings. That's where the intonation issue crops up. The standard ukulele tunings is gCEA, not EADG. Tuning this thing like a bass would mean putting the fattest string where that g is. Meanwhile, the bridge looks like it is really glued on there -and- the saddle doesn't move either. This is unlike electric guitar and bass saddles. I haven't tried a bass tuning yet because, reasons. I need to just try it and see what happens. The real solution might be to just get a bass ukulele because those are supposedly EADG. So, that's part of the learning curve. All that said - the intonation is right for a ukulele and, given the build, having it locked in is a good thing. Checking videos, the saddle adjustment is to slide in a new saddle to adjust the height of the action, which also effects the intonation. For playability, it's silly to adjust intonation by raising/lowering the action. OK.The kit came with an electronic tuner and I've had trouble getting it to cooperate. No big deal - I have a phone app for that. Maybe there's a technique to using it. Dunno because phone app.The gig bag is perfect. It fits the ukulele perfectly and is so so cute. The rest of the kit is pretty fine.Something that was annoying was the "Donner" sticker visible through the sound hole. That sticker wasn't really stuck down and the edges could lift. So, I decided to peel it out, which left bits of residue. I tried cleaning that off with adhesive remover. The result was just OK. I ended up using a black sharpie to make everything black in there. Yes, I did remove the strings to do this. No, I did not take that opportunity to try setting it to EADG. Opportunity lost.So... lessons learned: 1. don't assume the tuning of an instrument just because it looks like a little guitar; 2. should have gotten a bass uke; and 3. should have gotten an electric bass uke because amps and peddles is how I roll. Yeah - I wanna play a tiny uke through a big stack.

Really nice package with everything you need to get started and keep going.
This whole package is all you need. If there is one issue it would be that it is not made of wood as most of these are and it smells out of the box. I'd recommend this one for sure but not for people sensitive to smells -then you would at least need to air it out on another place other than where you sleep. And I would make sure the person you get this for is not an earthy natural type because they would want natural wood for sure. The case is so nice, the instrument looks so great too. Also, the picks and tuner are so great. The strings are going to stretch as new ones do for quite a a while before you can successfully tune then and have them stay where they are supposed to be. That's typical on all new instruments but even more so with these strings.

Looks great, sounds great...love it!
I love the sound of the ukulele and after fiddling with very basic beginners one for a while, I thought it might be nice to upgrade and this is definitely one for sure. First, this is a GORGEOUS instrument - the carbon fiber is great and it just looks COOL by virtue of existing. But...it's not just a pretty face - it actually sounds fantastic too!If you travel often and like to bring a uke with you, this one is PERFECT for that purpose. It comes with a SUPER nice padded case that has pockets etc to keep your accessories in (which is comes with several, by the way - tuner, strap, picks, cleaning cloth, extra strings. And there's a companion app you can use where there are classes available you can take to improve your playing (or if you are a beginner)This thing almost looks more like a small guitar than a uke - the headstock LOOKS and feels like an electric - gives is a cool look that is unique amount ukuleles. I feel that's a strong selling feature here because "cool ukulele" might seem like a bit of an oxymoron LOL but this one really IS COOL!The design also gives it a distinct sound that it measuredly different from a regular wood uke,too...in a good way. This makes me feel like I have improved my playing just from using it!Overally, I highly recommend this ukulele to anyone - perfect for beginners or even intermediate to advanced skill levels. It's fun to play, sounds great, and it's a great price too.

The look is great, and it is lighter than expected...
I've got a Kala Waterman travel ukulele (soprano), but I wanted a concert size. This Donner Concert Ukulele is interesting. The body is close to soprano sized, but has a concert fretboard. The smaller body makes it lighter than other carbon fiber concert ukes. The look is great, and the sound is as expected with the strings provided. I'm taking both on a river float trip, 2 ukes for 4 players. That's better than 1 uke for 4 players!

Great for young and old
Originally got this for my niece as she always wants to play with mine (also started learning during covid).Well I ended up loving this so much I ended up getting her another and keeping it.Everything I need to be well on my way to jammingit's been a 5 months since I started with this and recently replaced the strings with no issuesoverall out of the 4 I have still one of my favorites. Sound tends to be brighter on this one, but also has a really unique tone when in Drop D
