The dodecahedron is arguably the most complex and intriguing of the five regular solids. This CMY dodecahedron combines geometric intricacy with the varied possibilities of subtractive color mixing. Many reviews here talk about its use as a fidget toy and decorative object for contemplation, which it serves admirably. I mention three additional ways of enjoying this product. 1. Use it in light shows, along with mirrors, lasers, prisms, etc. For example, the attached video explores the effect of shining green laser light on the solid, demonstrating its high internal reflectivity. 2. From certain viewpoints, the pentagonal faces of the Mundus can appear with (mostly) a single color. Then slight shifts in viewpoint can change the color of an entire face in an instant. The color can even disappear as the face becomes completely transparent. Determining the true color of a face is often not easy, and could be the objective of a bar or parlor game. With enough drinks, this can be pretty challenging. 3. Find solids or shapes that appear reflected in the dodecahedron interior. For example, it's easy to spot a colorful parallelipiped somewhere inside. In any event, since the Mundus is made from acrylic with color films laminated onto its faces, it can be pretty fragile. I would handle it delicately and grip it only along its edges or vertices. Be extra careful not to scratch or drop it. Clean with a little water and a microfiber cloth, never use alcohol.

This is a beautiful way to show geometric properties of solids.

The colored stickers that are used to create the effect have varying levels of adhesive, and the sides of the pentagons can vary up to half a centimeter. There are also several annoying particles that can be found inside ruining the clarity. The more I look at it the more these issues stand out making this little more than an eyesore on my desk. I can only blame manufacturing irregularities and low quality machining. If you aren't bothered by the slight misshapen tilt at certain angles and aren't worried that the stickers may fall off or ruin the tactile feel then this may be worth the money, but as for the one I received, more than 30$ was wayy too much for what I got.

The dodecahedron is beautiful and a good size BUT IT'S NOT CRYSTAL as stated in the description. It is obviously plastic - it's too lightweigh to be crystal. It's disappointing because anything but crystal will scratch and degrade far more quickly over time.

Still need to get a proper display shelf to put these on, but got three of these through the Vine program and liked them enough to end up getting the rest of the collection on my own. Don't really USE them for anything, they mostly just sit around and look awesome. Made even better by putting them in a window sill on a sunny day and rotating them to see which one makes the neatest patterns on the window sill.
