Rogue Hoe 7 Inch Wide Blade Heavy Duty Garden Cultivator Field Cotton Hoe Tool

Rogue brand tools are simply the best (ok, maybe on par with Council tool). I used to be a wildland firefighter, and we used Rogue tools on the fireline pretty consistently. We relied on them in high-stakes situations because they do not fail - they are super heavy duty, well-made, and generally get the job done better than other tools. Sure, they cost more, but you won't have to replace them season after season because they last a long time. I'm not a firefighter any more, but I prefer spending more money on high quality tools, so when I needed some yard/garden tools, I immediately looked for Rogue. In specific, this 7" wide blade garden cultivator has been an excellent tool for chopping sod, breaking large roots, moving soil, weeding, and doing other general digging tasks on my property. It takes an edge really well if you go to work with a file, and you can get it razor sharp for chopping woody roots easily. The handle is quite long, letting you get a really good swing. Overall this is an excellent tool for a variety of tasks, and I would recommend any of the Rogue tools without hesitation.

This is quite simply the finest hoe I have ever used. Let's start with the fact that it is aesthetically pleasing. Not a necessity, but certainly a bonus. The construction is such that someone who looks at most tools and says "They don't make 'em like they used to," would smile and say "Sometimes they do!" It's good and stout and I can't imagine how you'd go about breaking it through normal use. The edge is good and sharp, and I really like the way the edge is ground up the sides of the blade as well, makes it easy to rotate the hoe in your hands a bit and strike a more pointed digging blow where it is needed. This hoe is heavier than most hoes I have used, and I was concerned that it might wear me out too quickly during usage, but it slices through weeds and brush so easily, that one can accomplish in one swing what might take 2 or 3 swings with a lesser tool. One of my favorite things about it is the nice long handle. I have had such difficulty finding tools that don't require a slight stoop in order to use, and this one allows me to use it from a completely upright position, making it much easier on my back during a long work session. It's perfect for large scale weeding, even taking out blackberries easily. Does great in the garden as well as the field,making easy work of mounding and furrows. I recommend this hoe most highly. I wish I had found it sooner. Well worth the price.

This is one heavy-duty hoe! It's got a head that won't bend, has good weight and a sharp edge that can really do the job on gardens with packed soil. It's got a great angle as well, perfect for creating troughs for seeding or watering. The handle is good (not the best I've seen, but I'm definitely happy since I usually pick out my wooden-handled tools personally and not via mail order, but got a decent one with good grain), and it's mounted properly so no doubt even when heavy force is used, it won't be splintering or cracking on me. I also like wooden-handled tools that don't have a truck-load of stickers on them, as I try to keep them in shape with treating them with light sanding and rubbing them down with linseed oil when needed. This hoe doesn't have a single sticker on the handle, so I was very happy about that! (I bet they know how to take care of their tools and have had to deal with stickers, too!) Anyway, this is a great heavy-duty hoe that will definitely be seeing a LOT of work in my gardens! Thank you!!

I had to think long and hard about spending the money for this hoe. But I'm sick of crappy tools that bend, break and don't do the job. So I decided to go for this one. Holy moly, what a hoe! It's great. It's super strong, sturdy, and the blade is very sharp - so beware! I love that the blade is wider and bigger than the normal hoe you get at the hardware store. The blade is much thicker, sharper, and wider. I LOVE it. In fact, when my neighbor wanted to borrow it, I grabbed it and said, "NOPE!". I won't lend this awesome tool to anyone. I was able to clean up my flower garden with hardly any effort since the blade is so sharp and well-designed. This was sooooo worth the cost. Now I finally see why buying quality tools is worth it. I guard this hoe like I would my wallet. It came well packaged with the blade covered by thick cardboard. It's worth noting, be very careful with the blade. It's far sharper than cheapo hoes you normally buy. This thing is a work of art and I'm sure it will last as long as I do. I'm glad I spent the money for it. I'm planning to do a garden next spring and I'll use this. I have no doubt this will take out grass with very little effort. Work smarter, not harder! This hoe does that for you.

This is a solid tool, and has worked well for the few months I have had it. It cuts through sod and the like with ease. (Full disclosure: I have very tough, clay-filled soil.) I give it four stars only for two nits. First, you should know the blade will nick if you hit rocks, etc. It cuts well, sharpens just fine, and seems to hold its edge well. But the metal is not invulnerable. So, FYI. Second, while the handle is a great length, the wood trades off of comfort for longevity. When I bought the tool, I thought this would not be a big compromise. Having used it for a while, I find that after a certain point of hacking away, you begin to wish the design was more ergonomic. But all-in-all, this is a great product. Shipping and delivery were - strangely, a nightmare - but I won't hold that against the hoe.

The heaviest hoe I have ever used (in a good way), the sharpest and thickest iron, and it will make short work of some trouble areas that have been giving me fits, where I know I can go and get the job done when I want to, and with it actually completed, and without dread. Let it be known that the shipper took great pride in his product as evidenced by the meticulous attention to detail in the packaging: using a full sized box with thick plastic, cardboard, paper, and bubble wrap. Very impressive. It actually took a weight off my shoulders (a dread) I didn't even realize I was carrying about how hard it had been to weed previously, and that it was such tough conditions I very rarely could finish, and had never been to my satisfaction. I am glad I ordered the 7" over the smaller one and would advise so unless you had a specific need for the smaller one. I tell you it is stout enough that when I picked it up, I was like whoa this may be more of a tool than I wanted (even though I was also initially excited about the ruggedness/heft of it at the same time), but then it worked so well the heft didn't bother at all. To give you a comparison, I had previously tried grandmother's 50 year old stouter-than-box-store hoes and quickly put it down with a "yeah right," as it didn't work, nor make a dent. I had let my yard go from how I liked to keep it, because of the hard conditions in trying to maintain it, and now I am looking forward to recapturing my beds, and not having to do the drive/walk of shame when talking with the neighbors because there were some weeds in the beds when everyone else's were pristine. I actually kept this garden hoe in my cart for weeks, debating with myself whether I needed it or not, because, well, it is rather expensive for a garden implement. In a moment of weakness I pushed the "place order" button and sat back breathing deeply trying not to think about how much I just spent on something to scrape dirt with. The package came and when I opened it a surge of power seemed to come over me as I pulled the equivalent the Scottish Claymore of weed killing out of its box. It is such a well made piece of weaponry that I held it over my head and shook it defiantly at my garden emenies. I walked menacingly towards the garden and laid waste to the weeds like Samson mowing down the Philistines. It was so satisfying. I have used cheap, flimsy garden hoes and it's a chore because they never seem to work well on my soil type. I end up getting a workout with very little to show for it. In all seriousness, this thing is well made of very strong steel. I have clay soil and it ripped through it like it was butter. The handle will also never wear out. My only caution is that it is heavy, and being older I have to use it in small doses. If you hate weeds and hate chemicals this is truly a must have. This is a lifetime tool and when I divide the cost by how many years I get to use it (Lord willing) it makes it actually quite cheap.

Oh my word, what a tool! I have a large stone parking lot in SW Florida where weeds grow year round, with no dormant season. I spend hours removing weeds with a hoe or hand tools because I won't add to SW Florida's water crisis by using chemicals. After hoeing stones for three hours getting nowhere fast, I always need three days to get my muscles to quit crying, and then I go back ans start all another section. The ProHoe is the answer. It is solid, has weight to it, and it is sharp! It slices under the gravel with ease. It works great in sand too, but so do many other tools. It is the stone parking lot that has been my nightmare. Now with the growth whacked out, I am finding minimal maint. is needed to scrape them as they first rear their ugly heads. The ProHoe does the work so my muscles don't have to over exert. I am very happy with my purchase, and once these stones have ground the blade to naught, I will surely purchase another one. Meanwhile, I fully expect to have to sharpen this tool as the reviews said when I was researching.
