Instant Granite 36” x 72” Countertop Vinyl Laminate Sheet | Peel & Stick | Durable Self-Adhesive Paper Resists Heat, Stains, Water | Kitchen & Bath | Granite Design | Luna Pearl (6ft) - Shelf Liners - desertcart.com Review: WOW! EXCELLENT UPGRADE - Used this film to upgrade my old school, (and I mean OLD school) 1955 butcher block countertops. Started off with the easier of two countertops, the straight cooktop. After removing the cooktop, it was a pretty straight-forward installation, and was only slightly frustrating in certain areas, like the radius on the backsplash. film did not want to lay down correctly on these areas, even though we did a thorough cleaning with t.s.p. Finally broke out the hair dryer, and went over the bubbles. That shrunk the film nicely, and it finally cooperated. My other countertop had a 90 degree angle, and a 2 section cast iron DEEP sink, which I thought it best to remove to have a nice neat installation. What a nightmare that turned out to be! That thing weighed 150 lbs, and it took 2 strong men to remove it from the countertop. After watching an online video of how to cut in a 45 degree angle where the 2 sections meet, I decided on just butting one section up to the other. It turned out amazingly well, and the seam is barely noticeable. The guys accidently dropped the sink and damaged the film in one spot when they lowered it back into the hole, but with the hair dryer, and some patience, the damage actually healed itself. The key for me was patience, and tons of water in a spray bottle, along with the hair dryer. Keep the surfaces wet, wet, wet! (and have a few cocktails handy just in case). The reward was well worth the frustration, and at less than $150, I have brand spanking new-looking granite countertops that fool everyone! Review: Looks great. - My son & I installed this over my old countertop at my house. It was pretty easy to install. It does take two people to install. One person really can't do it alone. You can stick it down & pull back up to move and it will stick again just great. It is easy to cut. You want something like a squeegee (nothing sharp) to smooth out the vinyl and you will need a hair dryer. The hair dryer helps decrease wrinkles. A great product and looks just like a granite countertop. I highly recommend this. This is an inexpensive way to update a countertop.

Save Your Money and Sanity
This piece of counter isn’t attached so “easy” to do. Well it wasn’t. When attaching the backsplash edge to the main counter section it tore. Just with my finger. No nail no sharp edge. Figured ok on me and lesson learned. I cut a sliver of material and “mended” it. Looked ok. Got it to go down smooth and tight. One two tiny air bubbles and got them out. Now afterwards I feel the finish product and feel uneven stuff. Thinking it’s bubbles I didn’t see. Nope,,, tight down contact. And my counter is as deeply cleaned and and I felt it repetitively. No gashes things on it. Smooth as smooth could be. So look at the contact paper and you could see the top clear layer was dimpled or something but not mirror finish. Mark’s here and there. I again chalk it up as maybe something I did. Though you can see it on that top coat. But figure well better than it was. I go to do the other side and was beyond frustrating. I tried several ways on videos and stuck folded rolled trying to get it situated was impossible. I wasted first. Cut another piece ditto. Now I accepted I’ll have to buy another roll to finish the counter due to my waste. But thought ok. Third time same. I rolled it into a ball threw it in the trash where it belongs. Ripped the one section off in the pics. Threw it in the trash and writing this review. As noted how they roll it. It rolls up on itself. Maybe flatten it prior for a day or two. But what a waste of money. Should put it towards new real counters. Out $$ and got nothing to show for. I’d give -10 stars if I could. Don’t buy.

(Hopefully) worth it!
Update over 4 years later: This stuff has stood the test of time. Definitely lost its glossy sheen after a few months of wear, but there are still no physical defects whatsoever. Every time I go into my kitchen, Im happy we decided to try this! Original: tl;dr version: looks great, hard to apply, worried about durability but will update, glad i bought this because the transformation is absolutely amazing. full version: I bought this as part of a kitchen facelift I had to pull off with extremely little money. I plan on totally gutting and remodeling my kitchen down to the drywall in 5-10 years when I’ve saved up enough to do it, but needed a quick fix to update what i have for the here and now. when choosing between this product and a countertop painting kit, my main concern was durability. only time will tell how this product holds up, but i don’t have high hopes. already the shiny, glossy loveliness is showing scratches and dulling, especially around the sink where i had to use alcohol to clean up extra silicone sealant. that said, i can handle surface defects the integrity of the product holds up—meaning no holes, peeling, and so on. i will update this review as time goes on so people can know how it holds up. application is difficult and requires painstaking attention and care. but if you can apply contact paper or wrap presents, you can do this. i have a curved backsplash and waterfall edge, which added extra fun. i bought RapidTac decal spray and a felt-backed squeegee on the recommendation of another review, and am glad i did. other things i would recommend: 1. get a cheap heat gun and USE IT! it helps you “shrink wrap” your edges for a nice, snug hold. 2. staple the product to the underside of your counters if you can for extra staying power. 3. always, always wrap your edges—don’t do like i did on my portable dishwasher top and think i could apply the top and edges separately. i ended up having to adhere the sides with silicone caulk and then go through agony trying to trim the excess flush without chipping away at what i had applied on the top. 4. remove your sink first if you can. i absolutely cannot even fathom doing this around a sink and keeping it properly water sealed. all in all, i love the way this looks and can’t stop staring at the finished product. yeah it’s pixelated if you look close, and yeah I made a lot of mistakes that you can see if you’re nit picking, but the overall result is breathtaking for very little money relative to new countertops.

I’m pretty happy so far
I wasn’t entirely sure that I was going to like this product because it definitely has a blue-grey background as opposed to a black and white granite that I thought I was getting. I was disappointed right out of the box, but my kitchen does have a white and blue theme, so I ended up making it work. If you were looking for a stark black and white with shades of gray, this may not be for you. The blue undertone is very noticeable. I thought it was pretty simple to apply and forgivable in that I could lift it up and reapply if I needed to without losing too much of the tack. It’s definitely heavy duty and not your typical contact paper, so to help some of the edges adhere better, I blasted with a hair dryer for a few seconds and pressed over it. I have tile counters and in certain angles and lights, you will see the lines, but overall, I am pretty happy. The true test will be to see how long the edges stay down and don’t lift up. UPDATE: I had to buy several more rolls to complete my kitchen and there is a different background color with the other rolls that is pretty noticeable. As you can see from my first review, my first roll had a bluish background color. The second roll does not and you can see the difference right next to it. Bad quality control. But, it’s better than my original countertops UPDATE 2; it’s been 10 months and this is still holding up great!once I put my decor together, you couldn’t tell there was any difference in color between rolls. This looks like real granite from a distance. Up close, it’s still great quality.

Great Product & Responsive Company
I redid my counters in a few hours flat - not the easiest thing I have to admit but once I figured out to do the curved part in the back first then a flat piece on the counter in front of it. The seam in the back doesn't show at all. Also, their tip on unrolling just a tiny bit at a time and smoothing it flat with a cloth made a remarkable difference in the application. So my advice would be to start with a test piece in an area that's less noticeable. You'll learn quickly what works and what doesn't in the application. And it's totally worth it because they look like real granite! I'm thrilled with the result. It's awesome because I couldn't afford to buy new counter-tops right now but I needed to upgrade them. This was a perfect solution. It's a good way to test a new color also I realized. The black is stunning with my white kitchen. Also, the company is extremely responsive. There had been a problem with the order - one roll instead of two was sent - but when I contacted them on a WEEKEND I got two personal responses (I had left multiple messages hoping to get to the right place.) The second roll was in the mail and on my doorstep before I could blink. So my trust in the people representing this product is pretty high.

Beautiful!
This stuff truly looks like real granite. Take your time! You can pull it up and redo areas. Once complete I did take a blow-dryer over it to help secure it more. I really hope this stays secure for a really long time. Only time will tell. There are a few bubbles. There was no way to make sure there weren't any. Also, the instructions say that it takes 36 hours to cure. It didn't say anything about the temps for your house though. I'm saying this because the contact paper on the roll was not as sticky today as it was yesterday. The temp dropped from 80s yesterday to 30s today so my house is colder. I hope this will not affect it curing. I also did this by myself and it was exhausting. Use scissors to cut and measure and then a utility blade to slice off the excess for a clean cut. The corners were the worst. I still can't figure out how to make them look natural. There is a blue tint that comes through on mine. I'm sure it's the lighting. Lolol I put aluminum foil around the corners to help keep my cat off of it. 😂😂😂😂

Not good for existing installations
I bought this product to refinish an old *pink* laminate counter top in my bathroom which has a 3" x 0.5 inch backsplash board. I researched reviews and watched all of the installation videos before buying the product. It seemed straight forward enough so I bought it. The shipping was fine - the item arrived in a cardboard roll with the film tightly rolled inside with the instructions. The plastic squeegee was stuffed in packing material at the bottom of the box - I almost missed it so make sure you check thoroughly. The first complaint I have is that the film is so tightly rolled that laying it out to cut it is a pain. Also, the grid pattern on the backing only extends for two rows, not the entire roll, which seems odd. I first cut a strip to place on the backsplash portion. Certain portions of the film adhered fine, other portions would not adhere without air bubbles and when I try to push them out, it wrinkles the film. Also, the top of the backsplash is ~0.5 inches wide and the film did not want to adhere to that, probably because it was such a thin strip. Eventually, after trying for 20 minutes to get the film to look good on the backsplash, I decided maybe I'll just buy some cheap pre-made backsplash and just use the film on the counter top. The sink with faucet were in place, of course. The videos showed the technique to cut around the sink, but I found that the presence of the faucet made installation impossible unless you don't care what the final product looks like. If you watch the instruction videos they always show installation on unfinished units, i.e. no faucets. I suppose I could remove the faucet and try again, but I think they could make the film easier to handle. Plus, if I have to disassemble the vanity to install a film, I might as well buy a new counter top and get the real thing.

Actual product is far lower in quality from images.
The granite print image is completely different from what the Amazon page suggests. There is no depth to the print, and the textures are very blurry.
