Excellent for making Dashi and as a salad or dish garnish. Has a mild smell in sealed bags of generous size. As for how long it will stay fresh, frankly I don't know. I tend to use up the product fairly quickly.

Kitten absolutely loves these. I use them as a food topper and she’s way more likely to eat all of her wet food this way. I probably wouldn’t have thought of them if not for a Japanese cat blogger I follow (stray cat j-san!) but they’re really a godsend especially if you’re trying to feed a kitty who has been sick and lost her appetite. They work well to attract cats to food, I think. This listing in particular is quite cheap— there are some companies that have repackaged bonito flakes “for cats” and charge an absurd amount for it. What a scam! Regular bonito flakes like these are perfectly healthy and safe for your cat.
