Like a lot of watch enthusiasts, I’m very particular with my watches and only offer a review after I’ve had several months to put it through the paces. My 2 cents: this Seiko is an outstanding piece at any price but at less than $500, its an exceptional value. Seiko movements are known for their precision and this model holds true to that tradition. It keeps excellent time and the automatic function is good for about 36-48 hours after setting it down. That puts it right with my Panerai. The quality materials and craftsmanship are apparent the moment you pull it from the box- it’s got just the right heft and solid feel you’d expect in a $5,000+ timepiece. The bezel is gorgeous from every angle and the exhibition back lets you view the detailed movement up close. The jubilee bracelet is easily adjustable and feels more durable than my Rolex Submariner. Name brands don’t impress me- quality and craftsmanship are my priority … this Seiko easily holds its own next to any of my “high end” timepieces. It’s a far superior movement than my wife’s 2 beautiful Hublot watches (overpriced designer jewelry IMO). In fact, this has replaced my Rolex Sub as my go-to daily driver… If you’re looking for a versatile, high quality diving watch with a timeless design- this Seiko is an excellent choice. It’s an heirloom quality time piece that looks great on the golf course, in the boardroom, or snorkeling in the Caymans- this Seiko does it all with style and durability that’ll last a lifetime.

Just received it today and thrilled to add it to the collection. The Seiko SSK001 (5 Sports GMT) is an absolute home run. The build quality feels substantial on the wrist without being overly heavy, and the five-link bracelet is surprisingly comfortable right out of the box. Definitely recommended.

It's a great looking watch. It comes with a larger bracelet, as most nice watches do, so I had an authorized dealer remove 2 links for a good fit. The bracelet is a combination of of brushed and polished links. The links, unlike those in cheap bands, will not pluck your hairs out of your wrist. It's very comfortable and easy to unlock. The watch is relatively light but is as a whole top heavy due its thickness. It can be felt easily if you move your hand from side to side which might not work as an everyday watch for someone that has to do repetitive movement like that for work. I got my watch one day ago and found it unresponsive in the morning. A little shake and the watch was up and running again. It's an automatic movement and does need movement to wind it. Not an issue but something to remember. I can't wear this for work so it will sit for over a week unused. I will be getting a winder for it soon. This isn't a true GMT watch but at the price it will 100% work as intended. The second hand micro ticks are smooth and the contrast in color and materials is very sharp and distinct. The glass is very clear as well as the magnifier for the date display. On a negative is the bubbled magnifier gets in the way when viewing time around the 3 o'clock position because it makes the display distorted when you pivot your wrist and the time is an an angle. And, the calendar only goes to 31 days so it would have to be corrected every month that doesn't end in 31 days. The bezel moves very smoothly. It doesn't have audible or tactical clicks when rotating which some might not like but the movement is sturdy. I wouldn't worry about the bezel moving accidentally as a result of it being well fit. The edged are easy to secure when moving but not rough or sharp edges. The glass back is great to enjoy when admiring the movement and it adds that very cool factor. The illumination is also very strong and can be seen even in shadow covered areas during the day. I can't speak to its accuracy on a personal level because I've only just received my watch but this watch has been listed at running +/- 30 seconds a day which is fine in most cases because its only about 22 minutes over a month. The watch comes in a very nice but plain box with a lack luster pillow of the same color. I really like this watch design and plan on keeping it for as long as the watch will run.

This is my second SSK001- I sullied the other one by accident trying to regulate the movement, it was the first time I'd attempted to do so on an automatic watch. Needless to say I learned a lot from the experience. The watch came fairly accurate out of the box (approx -2 sec/day, excellent for a watch in this price range), but I opened the case back and VERY gently sped up the movement so it runs a few secs fast/day, not slow. The watch is thick, but I don't mind it. The addition of the GMT hand helps justify some of height. It's not a small watch by any stretch, but it wears smaller than the dimensions would suggest on paper. I'd love if the watch came with a screw down crown like the old SKX007s, but 100m WR on a GMT is plenty. The crown guards help prevent the crown accidently being pull out. Overall a wonderful watch, especially for the price, and if your expectations are reasonable. Highly recommend.

Every single watch company is now putting out reasonably priced GMTs, and I have always wanted to add one to my collection. So I took a stab an decided to start with the Seiko 5 version. Now I don't have any real need for this complication, but shouldn't every watch collection have a GMT complication? The watch shares the same body as the SKX so nothing really to talk about there. I actually have two SKX's both the black and the Pepsi version that I love and will probably never part with. The bracelet is the standard Seiko Jingly jangly jubilee. I have already upgraded that to a Uncle Seiko product. Things I like -The brushed top vs the polished sides. -Matte textured dial -I know there is a lot of division about the cyclopes over the date, but i like it. -The red 24 hour hand pops. -2 tone bezel is awesome Things I am not sure about -The friction bezel. It doesn't move unless i want it to, but I still think id prefer something that clicks. Thing I dont like -The watch is chunky. Its really thick and sits on the wrist. Almost two high. So far my watch loses 22 seconds a day but at some point it will probably settle. I can always have it calibrated. Overall this is a nice watch, it looks good. It wears like any SKX body. The only major problem is how high it sits. My wife's opinion - "Don't you have this watch already, it looks just like that other one you have. Why is there 4 hands on this watch."

I have a Omega Planet Ocean GMT, a Tudor Black Bay GMT and a Rolex GMT. So far this Seiko is the most comfortable to wear, very legible and more accurate then the Tudor Black Bay. Still comparing it to the Omega which is phenomenal in its accuracy but a big heavy watch. Biggest difference is the Seiko lacks the "quick set" hour hand which is very handy for international travel as I use the GMT had as reference time and use the outer 24 ring as the "quick set" to offset GMT to a 3rd time zone. On the Seiko have to set the hour hand then go back and re-adjust the GMT hand. The Rolex is at this point just a waste of money that OK, gives you the prestige but I have so far had the 24 hour ceramic ring, a) fall out completely and then when replaced, b) develop a crack and Rolex and the watch shops just shrug and say well for another $500 we will sell you yet another ring....Money ahead to trade in the Rolex, invest the money and purchase this Seiko...!! Other realistic item to consider is with a Seiko on your wrist you are not a target for thieves and if it breaks, fails, gets lost or stolen, just buy another. Good luck doing that with a Rolex...!!. Rolex have done an excellent job of making their product Veblen good (look it up) whereas with this Seiko product you get incredible value for money that does everything the Rolex does except for the hour hand quick set function. So it takes me 30 seconds longer to adjust my watch when crossing time zones but for a difference in price of around 3,000% between the Rolex and 1,100% to the Tudor Black Bay that is way less accurate then the Seiko, take this Seiko. If you want all of the features of the Rolex GMT, go for the Seiko Spring Drive GMT. More accurate and 1/2 the price.

I love to watch the materials are good. The dial is good. The packaging was excellent.. The watch has a nice color feels very comfortable on the wrist. It looks very classy. You can use it for formal wear or just every day work in the office.

This watch ticks all the boxes. I wanted a GMT that would have a Cyclops. Helps to see the date properly and also be relatively rugged. Waterproof and the ability to see two time zones. I initially bought a Rolex G M. T master homage- a Pagani, It looked really good and I really loved the way it fitted. But it wasn't accurate at all and I had to return it. Then I read more about Seiko and Seiko 5 heritage And I found that these were one of the best watches you could buy. I was not disappointed. These watches are really well made. The lume is really bright, bwtter than my Omega speedmaster. not like the terrible lume on the Rolex homage. Watch, it's very accurate and it fits well and I think it should last for a very long time. And an added benefit with this model is that it has an inner bezel and an outer rotating bezel, which makes it possible to see three times zones at once. Very happy with this! Highly recommend!

Hermoso reloj, se nota la calidad de SEIKO desdé qué habrés su empaque, muy fácil de usar y sólito toma carga con el movimiento de tu mano, si lo dejas de usar conserva cara por 48hrs, después tendrás que acomodar la fecha y hora de nuevo, es cosa de 1 minutito pero es para tener en cuenta ya que no tiene batería, es de cuerda y se puede sumergir así que no hay problema de usar en mar o alberca, te lo van a chulear si o si, una maravilla!

The Seiko 5 Sports SSK001 is a solid, stylish everyday watch with a reliable automatic movement, GMT/dual-time function, and durable stainless-steel build.
