Amazing value!!!!
I picked up this Tascam Type II cassette to compare against some modern Type I tapes I had been using, and the difference was immediately noticeable. I am recording from a computer through an audio interface into a Sony TC WR635S deck, and this tape handled dynamic material beautifully. On Type I, quiet sections of songs would sometimes hover close to the noise floor, which made intros and softer passages feel thin or slightly unstable. With the Tascam Type II, those same sections sound clean, stable, and present. The headroom is noticeably better, and the overall playback feels very close to the original source. High frequencies remain clear without sounding harsh, and low end stays controlled without getting muddy. Vocals, especially in softer openings, sound natural and solid instead of grainy. After calibration, this tape delivered what feels like a one to one transfer of my recordings. If you are recording modern, dynamic material and want a reliable, high quality Type II option, this Tascam tape performs exactly as it should. Highly recommended.

I like them
There are some negative reviews about these cassettes, and while I respect those opinions, I have not had that kind of experience. I bought a couple of these and compared against some other, similar spec’d cassettes, using a Tascam Porta07 and a Yamaha MT4x. To my ears, they sound very good, no problems with hiss or other extraneous noises. Good quality.

quality of this tape is unacceptable
The quality of this tape is unacceptable. It warbles and sounds distorted no matter what the volume I record at. I bought two in case one had a problem but that was only slightly better and I may have only imagined the improvement. Even RTM Type 1 is better than this. And NOS is way better than that. This tape isn't good for anything, if you have to buy new tape get RTM and if you're willing to buy New Old Stock ANYTHING is better than this!

Most likely some jewel cases will have cracks on them.
Arrived randomly thrown in a paper package, not neatly packed. Some cassette jewel cases arrived cracked. But overall good product.

Just get an older type II tape
These tapes are pretty disappointing, right off the bat. I bought a few of these and used them in my tascam 4-track using the recommended stuff (DBX, high speed, also tested without). The quality is pretty subpar for a type II. There’s definitely a volume cut upon playback, and tracks can sound pretty thin. One odd aspect is that the tape occasionally crackles throughout in a way that almost sounds like a vinyl record pop. I bought multiples and they all sound this way. I recorded the same guitar with the same EQ and the same microphone and mic placement on a Maxell type II and man oh man, the difference is night and day. Great balance, perfect treble and bass, punchy and clear with no volume loss. They just can’t make these tapes the same anymore I suppose and that’s a real shame. I honestly would not be surprised if these Tascam tapes are just type I tapes coated black (type I tape is brown, while type II is black). Looking online, the general consensus seems to be that these tapes are definitely inferior to NOS. Ultimately, still totally usable and not a total waste of money but it should be clear that these tapes will not get you the quality that an older Maxell or SDK type II will.

High definition, crystal clear sound.
The compilation I recorded on this tape came out perfectly, and my parents and I enjoyed it very much.

Bad performance (it's not really Type II tape?)
I prefer to buy new stuff if it's still produced - rather than 20 years old tapes. Purchased this tape to test it but sound quality results on Type II (CrO2) settings are as bad as bad-quality Type I tapes designed for basic speech recordings. I'd say it's rather Type I (Fe2O3) tape. So don't expect any good recordings results from it. Real Type II (CrO2) tapes have much better quality, so unfortunately I have to still buy NOS tapes from 90s.
