Cool Hand Luke

This product took some time to arrive because it came from England. It was beautifully packaged and the DVD came new within a nice sleeve.I was disappointed to discover it is recorded using a different format than compatible with my Bose player in the US. I do not fault the seller, but myself for not having realized there was a difference in digital formats.

Don't buy this Blue Ray. It is for Great Britain only.

Although the description said All Regions (USA) with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and an American case, the silkscreen label is in Spanish and the BR actual movie shows in 2.40:1 (like the actual movie itself) ~ lolThe transfer looks SD, but it is clean and crisp, so I'm happy with this release.

Did not work in blu ray or standard DVD players

One of the classics, especially if you are a Paul Newman fan, I've seen it many times, finally I own it, on blu ray, I would definitely recommend it,

I have loved this movie since I first watched it years ago, my husband has tons of movies but not this one, he appreciates it, love Paul Newman, love his blue eyes.

classic movie , always a good watch

awesome prison movie, newman at his best, i loved this movie since the time i 1st seen it when i was a infant in mid 70s, this movie really set the bench mark for future prison movies, to me only the shawshank redemption can match this for prison drama, a true classic thats suitable for the whole family to watch.

Simply one of Newman's best performances (of many) I must have seen this film at least 6 times since its release, and it never fails to captivate, despite a somewhat downbeat ending. George Kennedy deserves a special mention out of a superb supporting cast.Definitely a "keeper" in anyone's DVD collection.

To call `Cool Hand Luke' a classic is a vast understatement. I saw this a few days ago on TV and was hooked within the first fifteen minutes and as I was unable to finish watching it I bought it straight away and I know already that this will be one film I will watch again and again. This has an amazing performance from Paul Newman as Luke, a loner who refuses to bow to the might of authority, whether it be in society or in the prison he is sent to. He manages to inspire his fellow inmates with his humour and quiet dignity in the face of the warders cruelty and you can't help but connect with his character. This has many memorable scenes and the egg eating scene is wonderfully funny and yet others scenes are especially poignant and emotional. The direction is pretty good, if a little dated and stylised, but this only adds to the character and classic nature of the film on offer. The supporting cast are very good in this film and the entire ensemble elevate this film from being merely good to being great. This also has an excellent 'making of' documentary included on the extras. Having heard a lot about this film over the years and never having seen it I am delighted I finally have and I can honestly see what all the fuss is about. This has style, a great story, many famous lines and scenes and a wonderful anti establishment feel that makes you feel mildly rebellious just by watching it.
