Holds up
I have used this substrate in two different tanks now, and have enjoyed it. It is cheaper in cost than most other substrates, holds up well and looks great. I am not too sure about its buffering power as I use RO water in my tanks, but it works for what I need it for. I use 1 bag to cover up about 3/4s of a 8 gallon fish tank (sand in the 1/4) and it is enough to build slopes and low spots as needed without any egg crate beneath it.

Looks great, required little rinse
Good quality substrate. It's much less of a sand and more of tiny beads. This is working great as a base substrate for my plants, so far i've been able to grow some carpeting plants pretty easily. Roots dont struggle to get through it.I hardly had to rinse this at all before water coming through was totally clear, the cleanest substrate ive used by far but YMMV on that.My only real complaints are: The price per pound, bought 4lbs for $24 and that was hardly half of what You'd need for a planted 10gal tank. The weight of the substrate is insignificant enough that it is difficult to get plants to stay down. I did need to get a heavier substrate to mix in for that. All in all 8/10, Just wish I got more for my money and that it was a bit heavier.

Did not cloud my tank at all
Really pricey for what it is. I thought I was buying straight up sand but it was little balls to my surprise. My shrimp are doing great with it as are my micro fish. Wasn't dusty at all. Totally recommend it just don't be shocked by the price

Unsuitable for Aquarium use
Absolutely do not buy this substrate. it never stops leaching black powder into your aquarium. I had to restart my tank and remove this sand. no matter how long you run it under water, it never stops turning the water black. I figured I might as well just put it in, it cant be that bad. eventually some did settle, and the water cleared up a little, but the black powder just ended up coating everything in the tank. I had to throw it away. total waste of money.

Lots of good reviews from online forums on this
I bought it because there were lots of folks talking about the great buffering ability of this sand to about 6.4ph. It's pricey for the size of the bag but it doesnt leech ammonia and can be used nearly right away.

Up Aqua Shrimp Sand
This is the best substrate you can get for you shrimp tank. I put the sand in a tank that was running already with a bare bottom. When I poured the sand in it created no dust at all and no ammonia what so ever. The shrimp can also dig in the light sand to find left over food, overall it is a great looking sand.
