Do notches fit cigerettes well?

The notches are smaller on the bottom but widen a bit at the top. I've attached a video showing this. My thumb is in there for perspective. I bought these for a retirement party. I'm no longer a smoker, so I haven't personally tried to fit a cigarette in them.

What do I do,when all received is an empty envelope that was supposed to contain these ashtrays?

AS A PAST PIPE SMOKER, WHO HAD A VARIETY OF PIPES, I WOULD SAY THE NOTCHES AND THE OVERALL SIZE ARE NOT SUITABLE. I ACTUALLY BOUGHT THE TRAYS TO BE USED IN REVERSE FOR BOOSTERS FOR SHORT CUPS ON MY COFFEE MAKER! GREAT QUALITY, BUT TOO SMALL FOR PIPE USE.
