Beautiful desk, clear instructions - so worth the effort!
After a thorough search for the perfect home office upgrade, I settled on this executive desk from Amazon, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The assembly process, while challenging, was a rewarding DIY project for me (52 yo female) with lots of experience in building and assembling furniture. It took about 6-7 hours to complete the assembly alone, and I did need help flipping it over. Despite eight pieces being unlabeled, including a crucial piece from Step 1, the clear and detailed instructions provided a roadmap to success. It's imperative to lay out all pieces beforehand and closely examine each diagram, especially when assembling the drawers. The slides are numbered 1-4 and might appear upside down, but fear not, that's intentional. Additionally, watch for the wood pieces at the bottom of the uprights; they are unlabeled and are easy to miss, but are crucial for securing the desk properly. The materials exceeded my expectations, with a nicely laminated surface that adds a touch of elegance to my office space. The pre-drilled holes aligned perfectly, and the package arrived without any damaged parts, which is always a relief. The design and functionality of the desk are top-notch. While I would have appreciated a wider pencil drawer, the keyboard drawer and other storage compartments are thoughtfully designed. The bottom drawer is spacious enough for either letter or legal-sized files, which is a major plus. Moreover, the desk's cord management system is great, allowing me to keep all wires neatly tucked away. The desk arrived in two well-packaged boxes, and I recommend inspecting for any potential shipping damage upon delivery (I did have to reorder this because the shipper sent the first back due to visible damage). Considering the quality, aesthetics, and functionality, this desk represents a significant value, costing less than half what a comparable, fully-assembled desk would have sold for.In conclusion, I am over the moon with my new executive desk. It not only looks stunning in my space but is also highly functional for my daily needs. The assembly process, while not for the faint of heart, was well worth the effort. My advice to potential buyers is to take your time with the assembly and to thoroughly review each step before proceeding. I am delighted with how it transformed my space, and while I hope I never have to move it, I am thrilled with the result.

Very nice home office desk for the money
This thing arrived in quickly in two separate cartons. The cartons were very heavy! We (the wife and me) opened up the first carton and then proceeded to carry a few boards at a time up to my second floor office. There are a LOT of pieces! So after taking a break after getting all the pieces upstairs we began the daunting task of putting this beast together. There are many steps involved and not all the pieces were marked appropriately. Even the manual that came with the desk at one point stated: Don't worry, this isn't Rome. It can be built in a day. Well maybe it could be built by someone who put these things together full-time but it took us an entire weekend (and I'm normally rather handy at building things like these). The end result is totally worth it though. I was refurnishing my office and this desk, along with the matching bookshelf and filing cabinet, completed the look I was going for: Form, function, style. One tip though: Do NOT use a cordless drill as you will strip the compressed wood (which is what this desk is made from). Use a screwdriver. It also helps to have a buddy with the final stages as connecting the two pieces of the "L" would be very difficult with just one person. Overall, I'm satisfied with the quality, look, and price of this piece and glad I bought it.

Good office furniture for the price.
Decent quality for the price! Took some time to put together. Highly recommend two people. We ordered the l-shaped desk, two drawer and three bookcases. It took us and our adult son a full day to put everything together. It does chip fairly easily but, honestly, I expect that with particle wood furniture. Looks great in our space! If you are looking for decently priced home office furniture, I say go for it! Just remember you arenโt buying Haverty or Ethan Allen.

The instructions however has very good images which one can compare against the parts to ...
This is the third Sauder Palladia item we purchased. Also bought two libraries (bookcases) and the L-shaped desk. 1st, shipping. The two libraries shipped via UPS, the desk (in two boxes) via FedEx, and this hutch via ABF. All were packed the same: in a large cardboard box, with edge reinforcements, and wrapped in heavy plastic which was glued to the box. Only the hutch arrived with no shipping damage. My guess shipping ABF had less handling during shipping, less handoffs at various points. The UPS boxes were damaged in the corners, gouged and the edge reinforcements and plastic was loose on one box. Each box had a broken part which required replacement. The two desk boxes by FedEx had some damage but no broken parts though one box had a minimal gouge which marked the desk top which we can live with. 2nd, assembly instructions. Instruction books well thought out. Some parts had stickers, some were marked on edges, and others with nothing. The instructions however has very good images which one can compare against the parts to find the parts. For the desk this was important as it has what seemed to be 100s of parts. Images showed holes on each part and described finish sides which helps identify the part and helps orientate the part for assembly. 3rd, recommendation. 3a. After unpacking the box(es), identify any broken parts and get on the Sauder.com website to order free replacement parts. If part cannot be easily replaced after assembly, will have to wait until replacement arrives. My parts took about 4 to 5 days. 3b. Take the plastic bag with all the screws, empty it, and separate the various pieces into piles. Compare against the parts list; I didn't have any shortages, had a few extra. Helps during assembly to pull from a separated pile rather than a mixed pile. Especially since some screws are similar. Pay attention to black, brown and silver descriptors for parts. 3c. Make a large area to assemble. I did on carpeted area which helps cushion and prevent scratches; also easier on knees. Helps in laying out the parts, allows turning unit over which you will have to do to nail on back. Caution on moving unit during assembly as it is only held together with screws and clips and it is not real wood; while not fragile like glass, cannot take too much flexing or twisting or racking until finished. 4th, Quality. Yes it is an engineered wood product with no real wood; unless one considers wood chips as real wood. Made of glued sawdust and chips; some medium density and some high density such as desk tops and moldings. Backing is high density paper product; for the libraries, came folded and when installed the crease does visually distract. In my opinion, better quality than Ikea furniture. Yes we would have preferred real wood bookcases, desk and hutch however we also would not have liked the price. At this time, I think the quality and value match the price. Quality is very good, it is well engineered, finish from the factory is very good and price is fair. Shipping is the weak link in finish quality.

Nightmare Assembly
Do not buy this product because it is almost impossible to assemble correctly. A key reason for such poor results include a number of the pieces did not have the part codes that the instructions call for. In addition you are supplied with a plastic tray with maybe 20 sections. Each section is to contain the necessary screws, brackets and other hardware. While the manufacturer uses several different screw types (approximatly 12 different ones), for instance, any good carpenter or handy person can see that the whole assembly could be done with 3 types. Unnecessary, complication and a true time waster. Also, in some cases the unlabeled pieces did not even have the necessary guide holes pre-drilled. Worked on this assembly for 3 days and finally gave up. I am out all the money paid for this poorly designed product that will frustrate even the most adept assembler. PS two of the four drawer bottoms were the wrong size so had to go to Home Depot for replacement piece and buy a jig saw to cut it to size. Since the drawers do not work very well, as the assembly instructions call out erroneous positions for the drawer guides.. My plan is to install home made shelves in place of the drawers which do not line up with the openings therein.

Desk ok but assembly horrible
Now that the desk is together, I can appreciate it and say that the desk is nice, study and worth the price. The three star review is because everything else about this purchase was a pain. First of all, Amazon said that because this was a heavy and large purchase we were to select a delivery time and option. Knowing the progress of our home remodel, we chose a date of May 28 to give our contractors time to finish the one room so this room could be cleaned out first. Imagine our surprise when I receive not a shipping notice, but a โyour product will be delivered todayโ notice from Amazon an entire week earlier than the date requested. And then, it wasnโt even delivered by special deliveryโit came via ups and the box was completely open on one corner with those pieces visibly marred. The second box had been jostled so much that the pieces had come loose from the foam packaging and were jostling around inside. And the boxes were heavyโI know our ups guy is aloneโI have no idea how he got them onto our porch. Amazon did give me partial refund to keep the desk, but I was so worried to put it together. That is where part two of the saga comes in. I have other Sauder in our house. Everything was well marked and easy to put together. This, however, was neither. Half of the pieces were not marked and it took my husband and I nearly 5 hours to assembleโand we are handy people. It want difficultโwe just wasted so much time trying to determine what part was what. Now that it is in, I like it and it looks greatโ(the damaged pieces are in the back corner so as long as we keep the desk in a corner you canโt see them).

Took time but worth it
Took a long time (4-6 hours total) to assemble over a few days. While the directions were simple they cuu out Ks have been clearer with some connections hidden in the image provided. Solid and structurally sound. Has a great finish and look great. Am very pleased with the results.

Perfect Desk
At the start of the pandemic we were sent home to work so i just purchased the cheapest desk i could find thinking i would quickly be returning to my office. Well 2.5 years later i finally pulled the plug and purchased a real desk. I searched for hours!!! I was skeptical to buy one off amazon but when i came across this one i couldn't resist. The price was great and it was exactly what i was looking for. Yes it is intimidating to put together but my husband did it in about 2 hours. Again for the price i wasnt expecting anything wonderful but boy was i surprised. This desk desk set is solid! I hated how my chair wouldnt fit under my last desk, not a problem with this one. Plenty of room for my 2 monitors, phone and desk accessories. Plenty of storage space and it looks expensive. Glad I pulled the plug

Solid desk
Came in 2 boxes. Labeled as 137lbs and 134lbs. After opening the boxes and laying out the parts (needs a lot of space) it took me about 6 hours (no breaks - tried to go fast). A few pieces were dented or scratched from shipping but mostly non visible, except the main top which has a dent. Wasn't enough for me to worry too much about. The finish is fairly easy to scratch so be careful. The drawers are a little stiff but all lined up and worked well. The door also lined up well. Instructions were mostly straightforward and there was a video link as well which I watched as I went along which helped a few times. Overall it's a nice looking desk, lots of room and very practical for me working from home full time.

Sturdy desk (assembly required LOL)
One thing that is correct is that this will take you at least 8 hours to assemble. It's not extremely hard but, it has a LOT of parts and pieces and some are not marked. I found the manual very accurate and I actually enjoyed putting it together but, I'm sure not a lot of people will not enjoy spending one entire day putting it together. Before start the assembly, take out ALL the parts and pieces and try to put them in an order, specially with the screws. If you don't do this, you'll be putting a comment like the one above mine that is saying that the manual doesn't indicate the right screws. The manual is very clear in this aspect. You just need to start the assembly in an organized way. Make sure to assemble it on the room that it's going to be installed. After assembled, it's very heavy to move it around. The desk is VERY sturdy and nice. I actually removed one drawer so I could fit well with my office chair. I paid 399 plus shipping, which was great compared to other places where I found this same desk (i.e. Sears and Wayfair). It's the same desk they have, with the same assembly required but much more expensive on those other websites. For the price I paid, I would definitely recommend this product to anybody looking for a big and sturdy desk.

Itโs just ok
Nice desk however it came in a million different pieces. Drawers are also really sticky. Not sure I would order again as itโs cheaply made.
