Arsenic and Old Lace (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray] [Region B]

This was one of my Dad's favourite films, and one of mine too. Even my 19 and 23 year old sons (at the time of viewing) like it. -My wife less so, but then; she isn't really keen on screwball comedies. Although at times "Bringing up Baby" had her in stitches. "Arsenic and Old Lace" is one of the better screwball comedies and with Peter Lorre & Boris Karloff in supporting roles it really is a bit of a gem. So I'll have my usual moan over the lack of a UK release for this very funny film. Especially since it has been released by the Criterion Collection and therefore looks and sounds fantastic. Could they not have stretched to a UK release also; -after all Archie Leach was born in Bristol.

This must be one of the most hilarious films ever made. A very gripping plot with a lot of suspense and a black comedy at the same time. This is probably Carry Grant's best performance on film. The rest of the cast is also outstanding and a joy to watch. The Criterion Collection BluRay has been given an excellent transfer with a high definition black and white picture, an immense improvement on the old DVD of the same film. The disc comes with a nice illustrated booklet. Highly recommended.

This a USA criterion release and as such it's region A Locked. As are all criterion bluray. Luckily, I have a multiregion bluray player for such eventualities. Picture Quality is stunning. The film itself is as funny as they get. There's no darker comedy ever been made. The film has me guffawing time after time. It's worth buying a multiregion bluray player just for this film.

great clean up job of an old but classic film. Cary Grant apparently hated this film but maybe he was wrong after all. slapstick at its best

It might be a great transfer. And it is definitely a great film. But this Blu-Ray is region locked so buy with caution.

The updated transfer on this 2022 release is beautiful. Great film and now it really comes to life with the new 4k scan.

This film is a classic. It’s funny and scary all at the same time. My best friend and I refer to our underground parking garages as Panama, and often yell “charge” when running up the stairs. But the thing that really won for me was the quality of the restoration. Just faultless

Good to add to your Halloween collection. Fun and funny.

Wonderful movie! This Criterion edition is perfectly splendid with excellent picture quality & sound. A lovely addition to my Cary Grant movie collection.

I had this on VHS tape. And now this DVD. What can be said about a GREAT CLASSIC movie? Myself and the kids watch this every October around Halloween.
