The ring seems to be able to tolerate a strong force from the worm gear. Review: unfortunately not that good - These are the cheesiest hose clamps i have ever used in my entire life. The Phillips only head makes them frustrating if you are used to normal hose clamps that are either flat head or have both patterns. If you put any force on them at all they break. The smaller hose clamps are frustratingly too small for 3/8's fuel hose and the size above requires about one billion turns to tighten. Anything above that size they are really to cheesy to use well. They work alright for ultra low pressure stuff like maybe garden hoses. Honestly I would steer clear of these. They are also not stainless at all so do not use them on marine stuff. They rust immediately.

Terrible clamps
You cant tighten them. Once you tighten them enough to actually hold something they twist sideways and come lose. Waste of money.
