I would say no. The lamp generates heat and requires adequate air flow for cooling. Now with that said, in my opinion, you are picking a great lamp for a fresh water live plant aquarium.

hm,,I think.. It is effective. I grow vallisneria nana, bolbitis and microsorum.

Yes on timer. The lamp generates heat and is cooled by air flow. I use the gooseneck mount. Works great.
