Outstanding
I prefer to read credible history when I can find it as opposed to historical fiction. Anyone born after 1960 needs to read this book. I grew up with "duck & cover." In 1960, we lived in base housing at Forbes AFB when the Soviets shot down a RB47H, killing the husbands & dads of families a few streets over. This was also a period when the base blew the air raid sirens day & night during exercises. I wondered if dad would survive at a dispersal base. But I was pretty sure that mom & us we would be spared dying of radiation sickness because we would be instantly incinerated when the Soviets nuced the bomb & missile wings on the base. It got no better for decades thereafter. Several of my F4 brethren were killed in training accidents pushing the envelope because that is what it would have taken to prevail had war broken out. Later, I wondered if my family would have been nuced before the dispersal base I was at got it. Now I see some of our own elected officials praising & aiding dictators ruling the same countries & rattling nucs that would have killed us. Real history like this book gives us the knowledge we need to help preclude such madness.

Don't judge a book by its cover
This paperback covers in detail espionage flights well worth adding to the library.

Great early cold war history
Extremely well written. The early Cold War aspect was excellent. The reasons for why the US conducted PARPRO was well explained. I thought the book waned a little toward the end. I wish the author would have delved more into later Cold War aspects of the mission, but all in all an excellent book. Held my attention from start to finish.

What's not to like about a book for 1p
What's not to like about a book for 1p? A good telling of historical facts. I particularly like the background about Communist rule in Europe and Asia
