Particularly good for checking how high damp is rising in a solid wall and works effortlessly through wall paper/paint etc. Purchased to check extent of flood damage. Worth every penny. Also excellent at confirming extent of relative moisture in a screed flood. Simple to use and not potentially damaging as with the pronged varieties. Like all tools you need to understand it strengths and limitations; what is is telling you and how best to interpret the figures. Metalwork and pipes skew the readings. It doesn't read surface moisture but the relative permittivity of the material (which changes with moisture) to about 19mm depth, whereas probes measure electrical conductivity from the surface. Appears rugged, in decent box with cloth bag. Excellent screen display. Can be set for several materials such as masonry and wood using the Mode key.

Great, I could use it, but note the presecence of metal in a wall may through it off. Going on viewings for next home move and was sick of seller telling fibs saying it was dry, the damp metre doesn't lie and for the money on an offer it could save you hundreds on unnecessary survey fees. UPDATE: Still works well if you follow the instructions.

Having moved into an older house and found it had some damp, I decided to invest in this little device and it helped where others couldn't. Within minutes, I had found numerous parts of the house that needed focusing on for damp issues and I couldn't have done this without this device. The instructions were easy to follow and the battery life I am assuming will last a good while being as the times I have used it, its hardly dented the battery life. Its small and easily could fit into your pocket or the little pouch is came with. If you are looking for something to help find the damp in your house or building, then this is the one for you. Simply great!
