It is more of a rectangle shape. Either style tissue box would overhang. I keep a package of wipes on mine

I think it is just bronze not oiled..

How do you attach the toilet paper rod?

The toilet paper rod is attached to the structure itself already. It does not detach. The top of the entire thing slides into the bottom, very easy to assemble

it is matte black. Rust proof and classical color too.
