A good lens for the money, just be careful.
I have an HTC 10 cellphone. I originally purchased a lens with a large bracket that clamped onto the sides of the phone. Since my phone has a slightly curved back, it would not stay attached with or without the case. So I returned it and purchased this one. This one works with a few precautions?????, none if which are killers. It is made well. It has some heft to it which I like; it feels solid. The focus ring operates smoothly and with care you can get a sharp photo. The clamp to hold it in place is metal and works. It came with everything shown including a carry bag and cleaning cloth. (Small but useable) Now how to use it. The instructions are pretty good but missed some fine points. The center of my lens to the edge of the case is 3 cm and the clamp will not fit. You have to remove the case! Without the case, the distance is 2.75 cm and that's the maximum space it will work. The first thing is to align the opening in the clamp with the camera lens and tighten the thumb screw. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREW. It can crack your screen. (The clamp has rubber cushions on both sides so it won't scratch your phone.) Next attach the tripod ring to the lens. (It has a gasket so it doesn't scratch the lens) Screw the lens into the clamp and then the tripod into the clamp. It is possible to use the lens without a tripod, but it isn't easy. Borh pictures I took are without the tripod; first is my phone alone without zoom. The second is with the lens and camera zoom. (Not bad for handheld, it can be sharper with tripod) I was very surprised by the magnification I got. I promise I did nothing special. Just the phone without zoom and the lens with the phone's zoom all handheld. BTW, my autofocus was covered by the clamp. So I used the lens' ring to focus. (The lens doesn't have its own zoom, only focus). All considered, I would buy it again.

It is a Monocular that Clamps over your Camera Aperature
This is basically a monocular that you can either look through or attach over the camera lens of your flat device--a phone, a tablet or a Kindle Fire. The only difficult part is centering the monocular over the camera aperture. Attach the clip over the aperture BEFORE screwing the monocular on so you can see what you are doing. (I would be real surprised if you could carry your device around with the monocular attached without the clip slipping out of position.) Once it is in place, turn the camera on and focus the monocular by turning the body. Then adjust the focus and field-of-view with your camera. I bought it to be able to get much better pictures of the elk and deer and turkeys in my yard and pasture from inside the house. It comes with a small tripod to hold everything stationery. If you want a more expensive tripod--buy one. What I like is the potential to use this as a monocular out hiking or sight-seeing to get a closer look at something. If you like what you see, you can screw the same device onto your flat screen phone or device and take a picture at that same magnification --for under $50. It fits right in your pocket. And it will fit on multiple devices. The quality of the photo is going to depend upon the capability of the camera you attach it to.

Looks sleek but image quality is not the best
I ordered this product to replace a monocular that I have been using to take photos of the moon using my phone. I was getting great image quality but the lens is heavy and the adapter it needs is difficult to attach. I was hoping this would be a good replacement. It is very pretty and sleek and extremely easy to attach to my Samsung Note and a small tripod. However, the images were not crisp, even using hands-free commands to take the picture. Going to continue using what I have.

Poor focus and clarity
My phone takes great photos and i thought this zoom would give me a new range. Unfortunately the lens does not adhere well to the phone. This is in part due to the phone protector-which everyone uses but does not appear to be accounted for in the design (see photo 1). I was not able to achieve a clean focus with the zoom and there were dark rings in the outer field as though looking through a low quality microscope. Without the phone protector, the outer ring nearly disappears with better alignment achieved but the focus and clarity are still sub par (photo 2). A major disappointment.

Really works.
Really works. It is so much easier to carry my phone and the lease than my larger full camera when I go on local day trips. It has great magnification and clarity.
