Traditional Handmade Chinese Musical Instrument Vintage Bamboo Flute Dizi (F Key Green)

I can make an open note with it and so far that's it. Didn't know when I ordered it that you have to blow across a hole that's between the other holes like the guy in Jethro Tull as opposed to blowing in the end. This is hard to do, but I'm not sorry I bought it and I'm not giving up yet. If I can play the dizi then I should be able to play a flute, if not then I need not waste my money on a more expensive one. Besides, it looks really good. It's well made. And cheap. The tassel goes onto the only 2 holes on the bottom. As for the dimo (membrane): I'm just using Scotch tape until my playing skills improve, plus I understand you can moisten a garlic paper with garlic juice and use that. I may never really learn to play it, if I can make a sound and change the pitch with the holes that's plenty.

Very pretty bamboo flute with Chinese characters, a tassel, a membrane package (don't miss it, it's very flat and small), and a nice red velvet storage bag. It was both wider and longer than I expected--about 1" circumference and probably about 21" long or so. Very nice for under $14!!! The seller delivered through Prime in two days, exactly as promised.I did take off one star because there are no instructions, not even how to attach the tassel and nothing about gluing the membrane in place. Also there's no chart to show how to finger any of the notes. Of course, the product description does not say that it includes ANY of these things, so there was certainly no false advertising. However, I think it's normal to assume it would come with a bit of instructions, at least regarding the glue and membrane so I did take off a little for that. (I'm counting on You Tube to supply the needed information).Pretty, inexpensive and it seems to have a nice tone (this is key of D, a common choice although there are also ones in G, E or C). I'm very pleased with it so far.

The reviews were very helpful in deciding to purchase this dizi so I wish to add my voice as well: The flute arrived far ahead of its projected travel time and I checked its condition very carefully for cracks and the like, but nothing was amiss. The careful packaging helped ensure the item arrived in new condition. Since the fingering is so very close to the shinobue, I was playing a piece on it 10 minutes after holding it to my lips. Less than 24 hours later I could play 3 pieces, all Chinese. I must add that this is surprisingly well made for such an inexpensive purchase and I would certainly not hesitate to purchase another from this seller. Intonation is excellent, item is durable with care, as with most things. Extremely pleased with purchase. No instructions included as far as applying dimo but YouTube is a great help there. Recommended.

 Sounds beautiful and great price! I was pleasantly surprised. I have (a little bit) of prior flute experience so I was able to play notes rather quickly, but I am looking into learning more traditional Chinese songs.

This dizi is perfect for beginners. I love the design, the beautiful finish, and the Chinese characters on it. The sound is really good, and better as I practice more. The metal joint makes this more portable which is perfect because I am a traveler. I use beeswax lubricant for the joint to make it work in and out smoothly, I highly recommend doing that. I also highly recommend this flute.

For the price, it really is nice. The sound is quite good and stable. I bought the C key and I love how it touches the low keys too. Would definitely recommend to beginners and for people who want to just try it out for fun.

I was very pleased with this item. As soon as it arrived I opened it and instead of using the Dimo or membrane I placed a piece of scotch tape over the proper hole and was able to make a note right off. Of course it is going to take practice to find the "sweet spot" for blowing the Dizi to get a continuous steady note but I was able to get it a few times. For the money it is a great product.

Beautiful flute and very high quality. The only item I would offer a suggestion to would to include some detailed instructions on putting on the tassel and how to set it up to play. A link to a website with instructions would also be great.

I brought this for my husband as a gift but it doesn’t work as the old one that he has. I was going to return it but it not available for return.

It takes a lot of practice to get a sound out of one of these things. At least for me it did. You have to have the holes covered just right and blow into it at just the right...

Ridiculously no instruction. No idea what glue to use how to do it. They thought they only sold two bamboo sticks to you.
