One should know the limitations of this product before purchasing. This is a fine unit for smallish tasks. If you want to fry eggs, make one grilled cheese sandwich at a time or boil 3-4 cups of water for tea, this will easily do the job very well. I have owned three of these in various colors. The first was inherited from the forgotten past; it lasted at least 10 years and probably longer. My second, brought new, lasted 3 years of 3-4 times daily use. I am on my third one, which seems to throw a bit more heat than the previous two, but is more cheaply and loosely constructed. Because it has a thermostat switch, you can control the temperature, but even set at maximum, it will self regulate. So, if you want to try boiling 4-6 quarts of water for pasta, even with a lid on, this probably not do the job for you, even if you have the patience and time to wait a half hour. Update: 5/2/22. Latest purchase, bought long before the date of review, gave up the ghost today after 4 1/2 years of at least thrice daily use. It served well, with an estimated cost less than 1/5 of a penny per use. Very reliable up to point of sudden failure. Update 10/20/23 My last purchase of this unit gave up the ghost today after about 2 years and 9 months of 3 times daily use. The red pilot light conked about a year ago but the unit still heated normally. The unit was used this morning, this afternoon failed completely. Depending on how often you use this, it should last about 3 years or more, at a cost of about 43 cents a month. Just ordered another.

I use this to turn on my coconut charcoal for my hookah. It lights up pretty good, and pretty fast. It’s not as easy to clean because you have to lift up the part that gets heated up, and it does get stuck with the metal. But once you get the hang of it you can definitely clean it. It warms up, or heats up pretty fast.

I have a glass stove at home so this has been really useful in cases where I've needed a coil stove. The only issue I have with the burner is that it's really easy to accidentally bump the knob and change the heat setting, as the knob is pretty loose. Since I use the burner carefully it hasn't caused any real problems, but I could see this being a safety concern if the user isn't careful or has children around. (You shouldn't have this around kids anyway so that shouldn't be an issue.) I also kind of wish that the coil could be completely removed for cleaning (maybe it can be and I'm just stupid) but with diligence I've been able to clean it just fine. Overall this does the job for a great price.

I bought this as a backup when my stove decided to not work. It is so worth the money. I intend on keeping it on hand as it now will work for SO MANY THINGS. Holiday extra burner Cook outs parties it's so versatile & never be out of burner space again!

I really like this burner. However the next time I would buy the plain color. The red comes off as you wipe it down while warm. I had this happen with other appliances that are red that involve heat. Especially the red crock pots where the red starts to peel off then it looks horrible. So I am returning to buying all stainless steel appliances. Other than that I really like it.

A sturdy hot plate, it is easy to clean and is reliable. This is the second one I bought, first was for lighting hookah coals (which it works PHENOMENALLY for even after about 5 years). However, when it comes to cooking, this plate barely gets warm enough to boil water (and not full on boil but right at the edge where it's steamy with some bubbles). It does cook, though. I make pancakes, get rice and noodles hot enough to cook, etc. I recommend it but if you're wanting to cook something with expedience this may not be the plate for you. It was $15 or so, I can't really complain.

Perfect for what I needed

This burner only has 2 heat settings really , off and on full power . The knob just shut the burner off when the sensor hits the general setting temp or amount of time on(not sure how it even does it) but the burner is on full power till then, aka red hot and will burn whatever is in the pot/pan . Most burners alter the voltage when not on "high" so at low temp they'll be maybe running 1/4 of the rated watts ,not this one , full power -shut off till cooled-full power-shut off till cooled, ect.... no steady temp at any selected range .

Does the job. I bought this to use while my kitchen was being renovated. Short term use — perfect. 👌 I don’t think it is designed for anything else.

I use this almost every day for my coffee (italian mocha) and especially when traveling. It's easy to transport, excellent settings, works fast and well worth the money spent. Can definitely recommend.

The only improvement would be to add a handle so it could be moved after/during usage as the body gets hot. update Jan 2021: Thermostat has a huge problem as in shutting off far too soon when set in High. This makes it almost impossible to boil water. update Feb 2021: unit stopped working at all. Opened it and found that one of the leads to the heating element had fallen off. Repaired this and now it works ok again. update July 2022: unit junked as both leads now will not stay attached to the heating coil which makes this very unsafe to use.
