Good tool, I wish they offered more variety of this collar
I do like this collar a lot. I wish it had a sound volume control option and was a bit cheaper for the distance. However, for what I use it for, it works very well.Efficacy:I actually use only the sound option and my dog responds very well to it. I use it as a recall device mostly. When she barks across the property, I don't feel like walking all the way over to her to get her to stop but once she hears that beep, she stops immediately and returns to the house porch. She "frenzy barks" so it's hard to get through her mania once shes started. I'll be yelling at her and she wont stop until I've yelled 3-5 times. One beep from this and her ears go down and she comes to the porch very quickly. If she's in a super frenzy, it might take 2 beeps. She is half staffy, half hound so very stubborn barker with a deep, bellowing voice. She has a very slight bay-ish sound. The fact that this collar stops her within 1 beep 95% of the time, is kind of amazing. However, to be accurate of the collar, I will also say that my dog is very well trained. Her only problems are barking and a little nervousness/protectiveness. To give context, she was out with me the other day and some random lady came to our yard. This dog started barking very ferociously as soon as she heard the ladies voice. On one very strong "SIT" from me, her butt was planted and all barking ceased. A very quick response from her but if I had thought to bring the collar remote with me outside, it would have been much faster and less straining on my vocal chords. :PI also use it while out riding my horse. My dog is very good at sticking with me, a little too good as she has gotten almost stepped on many times, but in case we come across another dog, people, or horses, I want her to come to me immediately, plant her butt, and wait without having to yell, just in case the people or dogs or horses aren't friendly. This collar accomplishes that. She can get very protective toward people and too friendly towards dogs but a quick beep from this reminds her to let her mom do the talking. This is great because I can correct her and most people don't hear the beep so it makes my dog look even more well trained than she is! It's also helpful for when cars are going by. I can recall her to the horse and wait for the danger to pass.Range:Our house sits on 2 acres with 1 acre around the house fenced in for the dogs and the other acre for the horses. Both acres are almost perfectly square. With no walls in the way, I can stand on one end of the property and the beep will work *almost* to the other edge of the property(across 2 square acres, just shy of it by about 20 feet. While I'm inside, I can usually beep her successfully if she is barking in the dogs yard. Sometimes, I stand up and go to the nearby window after I've beeped her. She has usually stopped by then and our other dog is still barking so I like to make sure its not her. For some reason, our neighbor only cares about her bark, not the other dog.Battery life:So far, so good. I charge the collar about once a week and it is turned on from about 7am to 7pm everyday. The remote I have only charged once since purchasing it 2 months ago and that wasn't because the battery was low, it was just because my roommate was being nice and charging my stuff for me.Overall, I wish this company offered a cheaper option with just sound correction and longer reach. I've never once had to use the shock on her but I did try the vibrate once. She ignored it completely. I have not yet tried it at the beach with water but I will report back once I have done so. I do think this would be great for many different dogs, if you train them properly with the shock(if necessary) and ween them down to the beep. If it can break through my pit-hound's crazy barking frenzy, it can break through anything(with the right training)!

Effective But ...
I had an opportunity to try a friend's device on my dog so my issue is not with the device itself. It appears that it will work for the one issue I haven't been able to correct in any other way--digging holes in the yard that make it less safe to walk and are unsightly. If I have one when I use it, I will update my review. What is an issue for me is the lack of a plug to connect the device into a wall outlet. For the price, I shouldn't need to scrounge around to find one that came with a previous cell phone so I could charge the new device.

GREAT!!!
PetSafe is the one brand that I will always stick with! I trust them because you can call them anytime and they will guide you through whatever problem you have. They back their products up and they will give you a new product even after a year if something goes wrong with their product. I love the fact that it automatically corrected the bad behavior that my two Pomeranians had picked up. I absolutely love it.

Stopped our dogs barking
Started using this the day after we purchased it. We have a very barky 2 year old sheltie. We live in a neighborhood and we couldn't let her out in the yard because of her constant barking. She barks at airplanes flying over head, a distant train whistle, birds, butterflies, leaves russling in the breeze, a friendly neighborhood squirrel, neighbors talking in their yards, cars on the street. She has a hair trigger bark and the slightest thing gets her going. Even watching TV was a challenge because she barks at any sudden load noise or action that happens. We never wanted to use one of these collars because we thought it might be cruel. But finally we decided to try one because we were always yelling at her to be quiet and aside from her walks she couldn't get much play time in the yard. All I can say is we should have done this a long time ago. It's static vibration and not a shock. I tried it on my palm to see how it would feel still not wanting to hurt her. It doesn't hurt. It's a strange feeling vibration. And it gets her attention. We just put the collar on and when she barks we say 'no barking' and press the button. We have it on level 5, a low level, and that works for her. She may start to bark but after just a few reminders, no barking and press the button, she doesn't bark. Today was the first time she ran out into the back yard and didn't even bark. I think she realizes when I put the collar on she's not supposed to bark! So I think this is a great product. I got the lite model and 100 yards. Even with her thicker sheltie coat it works just fine!

Replaced a lost larger remote trainer. I’m pleased.
I had the larger, longer range system and list the collar. It wasn’t fastened properly on my dogs neck. I didn’t notice and it disappeared on our walk. New long range is pricey. I thought I’d try this one presuming the lack of range would be noticeable. I am pleasantly surprised that the range of this remote is just fine.

Better than Expected
I was nervous about using a product like this on my dog but it is very helpful in his training! He doesn't mind it and lets me put it on him easily. We primarily use the beep signal but also the vibration at times. I like how the shock feature is protected against any accidental use! I have only used that once and find that we do not need it. This collar has helped with his excessive barking and coming when called! Highly recommend it!

Good so far...
Have just started using this - so far only for beeping. Seems to be very good quality. What I like: The collar stays powered on (until you power it off) and reacts immediately when you press the remote. A lot of the cheaper collars go into sleep mode which creates a delay. Battery life seems good and the range seems good so far. Very simple to use - so long as you know which buttons do what function (more on this below).Just wanted to point out a some areas for improvement: The buttons should be labeled or marked. Yes, you will get used to which button does what function, but how hard would it be to label, or at a minimum, have a different colour for each button? Or ideally, a different colour and maybe even a tactile difference between the tone button and the stimulation button. Button feedback isn’t very positive and the buttons are kind of mushy feeling (impossible to use wearing gloves) - the remote should have a beep tone when you press (the only feedback is on the LCD screen but you should be watching your dog when you press not the screen). Secondly, there is only one level of tone and vibration - I wish this was adjustable. The covers for the charging ports don’t fit very well - so I hope this doesn’t effect the water resistance - I’ll update review if they don’t. Proprietary connection for the charger is not a great design decision - would be better if the connection was generic, so you could recharge with any USB or mini-USB charger. Nobody wants to worry about remembering another charger when travelling anywhere.Overall, I’m happy with it. It fills a gap between the cheap collars (read reviews on these and decide if your dog is worth the risk) and the top end hunting/field training collars but there is room for easy improvement without pushing the cost too much higher.

Best collar!
By far the best static collar we have purchased! We have 3 collars: the static collar for the containment system, the static bark collar and now this one! It works amazing on our 6 years old 50lb female boxer (new to use 9 months ago.)Level 3 is the highest we have had to use on her. Now she just hears the tone and she stops what she is doing. We have used it for containment purposes, bark control, controlling her on walks and bad behaviour towards other dogs, for introducing her to other dogs, for control over aggression towards my parents cats (she had never seen a cat before.) She had the kill look in her eye when she sees them but now with the collar she completely ignores them. By far the best money we have spent on a vibrate/tone/static collar! Well worth the money! Would buy again in a heart beat!

Cheap plastic collar
Very cheap build, returned right away.We purchased hoping to use just the vibration but with the cheap build and knowing our dog's playstyle could not imagine this would last. Unlikely it could be replaced if there was loss.Better quality & replacable collar, and a vibration/sound only option (as in native no shock version) would make us reconsider.Otherwise easy to use. Battery / water not tested.

This works awesome
We live on a farm with lots of room for our puppy Daisy to run. We needed something to get her attention and help improve her recall and this has worked great. We had some problems with the remote and received outstanding customer support from PetSafe.
