Mailman for 27 years walk 7-8 miles a day have bought many pairs of these. Like all boots waterproof is a marketing gimmick water resistant at best I go through a lot of wet grass. I usually wear off the outside rear corners and blow out any pair of boots in 3 months. These last me 4-5 months and they wear even. I traverse alot of cement sidewalks so if you are hiking on dirt trails or something they would last a lot longer I could imagine
