Second in 10 years use.
Installed this kit 10 years ago on a new A/C system to improve the life of the compressor. I noticed the lights flickering a bit when the A/C kicked on so measured the Capacitor and found it to have a much lower value than spec. Replaced with this new set and all is fine now. It outlasted 2 run capacitors so I consider this set to be reliable and a good value. Installs easily on most systems.

Important installation directions
The little square box component must be mounted with the screw hole pointing up. it needs gravity to pull a contact bar down inside once the compressor starts. Mount it with the screw at the top.

Read your condenser warranty coverage carefully before purchasing/installing this device
I just replaced a condenser, which likely failed due to this product. I won't get into the technical details, but I am a retired BSEE and so I feel qualified to make this claim. This was the 2nd hard start kit installed in my condenser. The first one lasted almost 10 years, but this unit only lasted about 2 weeks. The key point, however, is that you should read the warranty coverage for your condenser if you plan on pursuing warranty coverage. There is language (paraphrasing), which states that if not recommended by the manufacturer, the warranty will not be valid. These things are never easy to prove, but this is a buyer beware post. The bottom line is do not install hard start kits unless recommended by the manufacturer, as a $5-7K condenser is painful.

Saves wear on your compressor
It's pretty easy to install for a pro. But I find it helpful to watch how-to videos first. They simplified the job even more. In my case it was 3 connections and 2 mounting screws. DIY doable.
