I really love this book! Really great ideas for modern Japanese homes

Love this book. I've never been to Japan but it fascinates me, whether it's literature, food, art, craft and interior design and architecture. I pre-ordered this book by Mihoko Iida and when it arrived was very pleasantly surprised that the cover of the book is exceptional, beyond anything I've seen for a book cover, like its own fine Japanese construction of a paper screen. I had to take a picture, included here. All the photographs are exquisite and the text is exceptionally interesting right down to such details as, did you know, that in Japan there really aren't door knobs, because in Japan doors slide, and do not protrude. Because, we read, Japanese aesthetics and vibes do not support protrusion into spaces, as Western doors do, the culture there is softer, quieter, so doors slide...there is so much more to learn and enjoy here.(Book includes a very fun and informative glossary.) I can't afford to take us to Japan, so I'm giving this book to all my friends for Christmas knowing it is a most transporting read and, of course, a beautiful object to display on a coffee table.
