Can you mount this from the ceiling?

Probably. The brackets come with a tightening screw. Once mounted to the ceiling you can tightening that screw tight to the rod so that it holds it in place. I don't know how much weight is going to be on it but if heavy you will need the 3 brackets.

How much weight can it hold?

I'm not sure. But this heavy duty curtain rod does not need support in center to hold up my heavy insulated black out curtains. Looks great.

What is the longest these are rated for without a center bracket?

llI have a six and eight foot up, without brackets.
