Hi, thanks for your question! The regular-sized Cave fits 2-3 people. However, it is more appropriate for two adults plus one child or two adults + a lot of equipment. With the new Cave XL, we wanted to create a proper three-person tent. The main objective of The Cave XL 4-Season is extreme stability. Naturally, this increases size and weight. When camping alone it is certainly too heavy. When camping with 2-3 people where the equipment can be shared between them then The Cave XL is a good option for backpacking. What sort of snow load can this take? It looks as if it would easily gather snow and it'd be hard to remove.

Hi, thanks for your question! The Cave XL has been and is being used in extreme weather conditions such as expeditions in Antarctica. It should have no problem handling snow. It is also the most weather-resistant tent in our line-up apart from Mavericks. This is due to its ratio of overall size compared to the number of struts.
