the price of this chuck was right on for a job that came in. out of the box runout was 6 mil at the taper, i expected something like that. took the chuck apart and cleaned the pinions, ring gear, and threads, all kinds of chips and swarf inside the thing along with chinese mystery grease. had to chase all the threads due to rough machining done after threading. on to the back plate; several dings at the edge caused most of the runout. gave it a stoning and got all the dings down flat. a little tlc on the surface plate and a finer stone: the chuck now dials in at less than a mil at the taper on my precision matthews pm1236t. not bad for a $225 chuck!! in all fairness i spent four hours on a saturday working on the chuck, i would definitely recommend it if you dont mind putting a little effort into the chuck.
