Well worth the price
If you're tired of those expensive auto-open, auto-close umbrellas that last 3 or 4 times or until the first really windy day occurs, then this is what you should be buying instead. So this umbrella doesn't fully auto-close by itself. It costs a fraction of those fancy fully automatic umbrellas, easily fits into a briefcase or coat pocket, plus it holds up quite well over time. So for the price of one of those fully automatic umbrellas, that don't hold up very long or don't even work when they first arrive, you can get two or three of these instead. An excellent balance between quality and cost.

Well built travel umbrella
This is an ultra compact umbrella which is good for putting in your bag or traveling with. This umbrella will not fully protect you from rain as it is too small, but will do a lion's share of the work.I walk to work in Boston and this umbrella is not large enough or sturdy enough for daily use.4 Stars for travel umbrella for a pinch2 Stars for commuting umbrella

Don't order this piece of junk
This umbrella was very solid and sturdy upon initial inspection. I commute into Manhattan from NJ and was also pleased with the small size. The first time I used it, it worked great until I got to my office and tried to collapse the umbrella. The thing was locked open. What a complete embarrassment. After struggling with the thing for several minutes in the rain, I had to break the thing to get into my building. It got one star from me simple because there is not a zero star option. Also, amazon should provide for a full refund as opposed to me being required to ship it back, given the circumstances.

Love Totes!
I had what was probably the oldest Tote umbrella still in use in the civilized world with one that has served me for perhaps as long as twenty years until one of its arms failed. Discarding it was like saying goodbye to an old friend. However, the new Tote which replaced it is superb in many ways, including a button release and spring loaded shaft to make opening the umbrella fast and easy. The same button is depressed to close it. This is an excellent product at a reasonable price.

OK but somewhat flimsy
Very small and basically works. But the spines are somewhat flimsly. I bent one when I touched it with very little pressure. We haven't had any wind storms so don't know how it will do on that but I wouldn't expect it to stand up very well.

Nails the fundamentals of what an umbrella should be.
This is an inexpensive umbrella that provides good coverage in a compact size. The automatic open and close functionality is a nice touch. I've only had it for a few weeks now, but it seems well-built and is holding up well so far. If you need an umbrella, don't over think the purchase, this one is a solid buy.

Great umbrella
I usually go through the small 5 dollar umbrellas that you get at walmart or dollar general. I decided to up the price and get one that won't break after a month. This one rocks. The auto mech is very nice. I feel like darth vader ever time it rains. Totes makes good umbrellas, money well spent. Would have gone through several cheaper ones and this thing still works perfectly.Good size for 1 or 2 small people

The umbrella opens and closes easily, and has stood up to the weather
The umbrella opens and closes easily, and has stood up to the weather. The hanging cord broke the handle plastic within a few weeks. I bought my original full sized Totes in 1972 and have never had a problem.
