L'Oreal Paris Colorista 1-Day Washable Temporary Hair Color Spray, Purple, 2 Ounces

I'm a senior who wanted a subtle purple. I still have mostly dark brown hair but gray at the temples. This is very a true purple. I didn't want a bright lavender or reddish purple. Have to practice a bit. The sprayer end is narrower than a straw but spray comes out wider. You can still hold up the strand and only apply to the area you want. At first I couldn't see the purple when it was wet so I sprayed too much. Then I realized to let the first spray dry to see if you need to apply a second spray. 1 spray coat did it for me. It also covered the few gray hairs at the temple! It easily rolls off hands but I only got it on my hands because I was touching the wet areas. Use a towel to cover clothes like the instructions say. I held up the strand and no spray got on my scalp.

The color is rich and I wish I’d bought more. My hair is thick and to get good color at the ends, I could have used 4 or 5. I had to get a rush delivery from Walmart of some other brand because I was hosting a Halloween party and didn’t have time to look for this brand in stores. The other brand didn’t have as rich color, and it wet my curls and look tangled. I stopped using it after a few sprays it looked so bad. This brand kept my curls in tact and they looked bouncy all night. Also, like other reviews, when i touched it, I had purple hands all night. I woke up to having it all over my neck. It got everywhere when spraying. I mean the walls, sink, floor, all over my counter, EVERYWHERE. I used a towel around my shoulders and that’s the only part of me that was clean. It did fry my hair when I washed it out. I used Dawn that someone else suggested and that worked great to take out the color but don’t try to brush it after. My hair is a knotted mess today. BUT, in the end, this part of my Halloween hair looked great and I would use again with these pointers in mind. Edit: after I washed the towel it was still purple.

During this pandemic, it git boring, so I decided to have some fun. Blue and purple hair streaks did it. Many compliments. It does act like hairspray, though, and my hair is waist length, so that was a problem. But, I apply it in the evening, wash my hair in the morning and problem solved. Takes about 5 days to wash out. Solo application is also an issue with my long hair - but I wrap it around a paper towel tube, spray, and get nice streaks. Wishing for more colors.

I used purple for a special birthday party on my uncolored blonde hair. I used a hair thickening product and a hairspray (with shine) prior to applying this product. You do need to place a towel over clothing prior to using it to avoid getting it onto your clothes. I got overspray on the bathroom wall that I wiped off with a disinfecting wipe-no staining. I needed 4 shampoos and alot of conditioner afterwards. I had slightly purple hair for 2 days, but enjoyed the very light tint. It was different and I didn't mind it at all. One person thought that I was wearing a wig. I got a heavier & darker layer on the top, which is where I first began using the product. It gets easier with practice. I used about one can on my hair. For solid purple, I would need to use more than one can of spray. Enjoy and have fun! I would use this product again. I received it in a timely manner and it was not damaged during the shipping process.

So to be fair, I gave this product 3 stars because I didn't use it for it's intended purpose. If you're thinking about using this for a cosplay or costume, and spraying your whole head, don't. I understand that's my fault, but last minute I grabbed this. I will say the color was very pretty and I'm sure it would be alright as a highlight or two. The product does take a LONG time to dry though, gets very sticky and rubs off on anything (however, I did use a lot). The worse part is rinsing it out. I took 2 showers and my hair was still stuck together. Also, my scalp stayed purple for a few days. So not a bad product, just not great either. You get what you pay for.

I bought this because I needed an inexpensive way to determine if my director liked the color for an upcoming stage production. For reference, I have very short-kept salt and pepper hair, much more pepper with salty streaks. Positive points, this was pretty cheap. The final color was vibrant even over my dark hair and demonstrated the effect well. Also, it really did wash out of my hair immediately. That's as far as the positives go. Unfortunately, the negatives render the spray impractical for use. For starters, the nozzle is hyper-acute. It's impossible to get any kind of broad, even application on my hair. Instead I was left with sporadic blots of concentrated color that wouldn't blend. This leads to the second problem: it won't blend because it absolutely fried my hair. It became too brittle to get a comb through- essentially I couldn't touch my hair once the spray was in it. Moving on to the next problem, it comes off on EVERYTHING. I couldn't touch any of my costumes or props because any minor contact would result in the color rubbing off on all of it. I also couldn't interact with the furniture or let my head touch anything on set. Finally, I was left with what appeared to be burns on my hands by the end of the experience. I did use it in conjunction with other hair products, but I'd used them before with regularity and never had this reaction. I don't know what is in this spray but it left the skin on my hands looking sunburned and stinging under water after washing. A decent application of Corn Huskers lotion followed by a good coating of coconut oil kept it from blistering and it looks better today (the day after) but it still burns under warm water. Overall it accomplished the goal of confirming the color as a choice, but I will go with a better, gentler product for the actual show because this was a disaster from start to finish.

I used this product for April Fool's Day. As you can see in the first photo I have gray hair. I used one bottle to achieve great purple coverage on my entire head. I was concerned it would rub everywhere, but I didn't have a problem with that. It didn't get on my face as long as I didn't touch my hair and my face. I was also worried about it getting on my clothing, so I wore purple. I don't know if it got on my clothes or not. Other posts indicated it was hard to wash out, so I washed my hair three times when I took a shower and it all came out. I don't know if it would have come out sooner than three washings, but it might have. This product is a nice blend of achieving good coverage with limited smearing while still being easy to wash out.

My daughter is going to be Rumi from K-Pop Demon hunters, for Halloween. We ordered this for her hair, what a great, easy product to use. She was thrilled with the results. She has very light hair, it came out after one wash. Highly recommend.

Love the colour and flexibility

This stuff worked amazing for “Rumi hair’. The pigment is outstanding. Only giving 4 stars as we only got two uses out of it. Luckily that’s all we needed.

Will you hair look purple? Yes it will, now it will also stain your back and whatever you lay your hair on, as one my expect the more you use of it the more chances it will stain something, I find it does washes of easily, but it damages the hair really badly. I used this products on my 4 yo who wanted pruple hair, didn't cover all hear hair before the bottle was empty. . . Is not a bad product I will say it says what it advertise s, whoever not what I'm looking for I think next time i'll just buy a cheap Halloween wig instead.

my daughters hair is medium brown, i was sure the color wouldn't show too well. i was WRONG. really beautiful vibrant purple color. we are using for halloween. will update with a photo later.
