I have read all four of Dr. Chutkan's books and appreciate how she takes the complex science and makes it accessible and easy to read. The plan in this book is so comprehensive and packed with actionable tips that you can implement right away! Who knew that sleep played such a pivotal role in the health of our microbiome and that time in nature (one of my favorite activities!) could be so helpful for boosting immunity. So much of the advice to improving gut health and our overall well-being can be easily integrated into our lives immediately.I had the privilege of working on the recipes with Dr. Chutkan to carry out her vision for easy to make dishes packed with microbe-boosting ingredients. They also happen to be satisfying and delicious too!If you're looking to feel better from the inside out, let The Anti-Viral Gut be your guide!

EASY-PEASY READING – AND GREAT TIPS!
Dr. Chutkan is absolutely masterful at breaking down complex concepts into delightful nuggets of info you can actually understand. I honestly didn’t think I could learn much more about the gut. But OMG – who knew that most of the body’s 1.5 liters(!) of mucus originate in the digestive tract, and that the “quality” of that mucus can help determine how well you ward off viruses – or spread them! Lotta stuff in this book, and the fun, easy way Dr. Chutkan shares them will inspire you, especially as we enter the cold season. I’ve already adopted her 1-2-3 veggie plan and am feeling mightier already!

An excellent practical guide to improving health
Dr. Chutkan has done a wonderful job in explaining in layman’s terms the relationship between digestive health, our overall physical health and our body’s ability to fight off viruses like Covid. She covers not only diet but also other lifestyle changes that will have a positive impact on health, like practical steps to improve sleep quality, incorporate exercise into our daily lives and ways to reduce stress. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their health.

This book has already changed my life.
I am a physician, and I had NO idea that the gut is the epicenter of our immune system. Reading this book has already resulted in lifestyle changes for me (and my cardiologist husband!). I am often skeptical of health advice in the wellness sphere but Dr. Chutkan is not selling "lifestyle." She backs what she say with science. Every medical student should read this. Another bonus: as a Korean American, I loved the shout outs that kimchi gets in this book!

Encouraging!
I appreciate how Dr. Chutkan presents scientific research in such a relatable manner! As a mental health counselor, I found the discussion of the role of sufficient sleep and stress reduction in managing viruses informative. Specifically, I was unaware of the connection between a healthy microbiome and sleep! I also love the recipes that will help me jump-start my goals for healthier eating and improving my immune health.
