I actually borrowed a friend's tarp to use as a wind and rain break while I did some painting during December and January. It was subjected to side wind gusts up to 40mph and torrential rains, snow and ice. Because of the method I used to secure the tarp, it chafed some of the waterproof coating, so I bought him a new one due to my negligence.As for the tarp itself, it was in perfect condition. No seam pull-outs, tears, holes, fading or loss of gromets, and this thing took a beating over two months! The chafing of the weatherproofing was all my fault. I kept the old tarp because it still sheds water beautifully and is 100% structurally sound.I wish I would have had a couple of these in my backpacking and winter camping years! Highly recommended this tarp, but you also get a ton of parachute cord, connectors, 4 aluminum corner stakes and bags to keep it all in. This is a must have for anyone who camps, hikes, backpacks or heads out in poor weather. It provides a very lightweight shelter, ground cloth or emergency shelter in virtually all four seasons. Awesome!!!

Went out for a weekend on the AT. Light tarp, easy to set up. I use REI stakes, the stock ones aren’t that great. I got caught in an ice storm. That’s ice at the base of the tarp. I stayed warm and dry. VERY happy with this product.Update!!!!!! I set up this tarp this past summer, June-August. It held up beautifully through summer storms, 2 tropical storms, and sun. Maintained structural integrity, waterproofing and kept the neighbors pine needles out of our pool. For a long lasting, dependable tarp you can count on for the long haul, this is definitely the way to go. My only suggestion would be adding more tie out points. But it definitely suffices well for the price :)

Tarp corners and side straps are not sown as they appear in the photo. I bought the trap based on the fact the straps had a good amount of sowing onto the tarp, unlike all the other republic made tarps currently offered for sale. Material looks like it could be durable and strong. The stitching and waterproofing appear to be well done. Overall it’s construction is as expected for the price, but I’m sure in heavy winds a corner could give out.

High QuaLity Shelter, at a Fair price,,, on First day Camping, a Rain Storm hit Camping park with high winds and Family Tent took a beating,,, Lucky for us to have this Shelter/Tarp,,, we place it on side where Family Tent was damaged, and we did not get a drop of rain inside Tent ALL Night,,,This is our Favorite Shelter, ALL Purpose Tarp,,, is very well made,,, Strong and Light weight,,, a perfect combination for Backpack Hike into WiLderness, , , we Like Everything about this Shelter/Tarp,,, planning to buy many more,,, is good for Everyday Carry and has many different uses,,, too many to mention on this Summary,,,This is a Simple Honest Review,,, we are not getting paid in any way for typing this review,,, we just think is only Fair to give Credit for a product well made,,, again, High QuaLity at an affordable price for average Camper is a really good combination, and is Helping Everybody,,,

Bought this for a trip to the BWCAW and it did not disappoint. There was rain everyday and this tarp was put through its paces with no issues. It is not super big but rather I would say is an ideal size for trips where you move your camp everyday. We stayed dry under the tarp and it held up under the loads we placed on it, meaning all the rope holes and straps held up and the tension placed on all parts was not an issue. The tarp also dried off quickly enough so that when we needed to pack it up again we did not need to worry about the tart getting other things wet inside our packs. I would buy this again.

We got dropped off by float plane for a week in a different spot than planned on due to weather. We hiked quite a ways to find fresh water that wasn't loaded with beavers. We found one creek over a mile away to get water the first night. So we set this tarp up as a rain collection to filter out of, and it held over 5 gallons of water in it during one rain storm. We were able to pump water out of this tarp and have fresh water the entire week long trip!It's durable, waterproof, and somewhat lightweight (have bigger hunting tarps that weigh less), but it is thick and holds up. Love the fact that it has so many tie down spots, as this made it super easy to set up the rainwater collection system.

This thing sheds water like a duck! I set this up in 3 different configurations in less than 5 minutes each. The stakes are fine and the cords are long and have reflective material woven in. I do wish it had ties at 1/4 lengths around the perimeter for a little more versatility but most tarps this size don't even have the half span and center ties this one has. I got this to throw in my pack for an Alaskan moose hunt because we are expecting lots of rain. This will make glassing from a mountain side in the rain a dry, fun experience rather than a wet miserable one! Please make these in CAMO!

Used this several times as a tarp over the cooking area at a campground in Florida. We are known to have some sever rains along with gusty winds at the blink of an eye This withstood several severe downpours along with gusty winds. Totally kept the rain off the equipment and proved to be of good quality. Seams and eyelets held up to some gusty winds. It's pretty light weight compared to the blue tarps you get at Walmart. Very happy with the purchase and considering ordering another as backup or for extra shade in the Florida sun.
