Can I put cockroaches in this?

You’d be better off using a storage bin cheaper and they work get a clear one if u want it to be see thru but most importantly get a bin that is smooth on the Inside some roaches can climb the rough bins

Can snails live in this?

I kept tiny moss snails in mine with no problem. I had to use aquarium sealant on the seams for the bottom 2 or 3 inches so that when I put dirt in it and planted moss, I could water it without it leaking. But it was worth the small amount of trouble to do this. And the snails did great because I only sealed it near the bottom. The upper part of the seams still had small gaps so there was enough air flow for my snails. Shelly C.
