I've never used one of these jigs before even though I've done a lot of woodworking. The tool worked very well The alignment and setup was easy. well made and sharp. I was using poplar and maple for the doors I made. I recommend using an electric drill and an 11/32 driver to turn the forstner bit.

Jig was easy to setup and I like the dual clamps for a firm hold on the workpiece but I have to say the drill bit was a let down. Bit is very sharp but may be incorrectly profiled as it took excessive force to engage on a soft pine test piece. Ordered a Freud bit for a replacement

I bought this jig to drill holes that were previously marked for me. So for me, it was important to be able to align the jig to previously set markings. I wanted to like this item because it is so well made. Other reviewers are correct, it is well constructed and the clamps are solid. However, the mechanism that aligns the jig against the wood is difficult to adjust accurately. You have to align 2 screws so that the ruler is parallel with your board. The screws are so close together that it's impossible to align, and the ruler moves as you tighten the screws. Also, the measurement markings themselves are about a millimeter thick. It's not clear whether to align at the top of the marking, the center, or the bottom. Any one of these will alter your measurement by 1 mm , which makes it difficult to get an accurate measurement. Measurement aside, the drill bit itself burned my wood because the blade was dull. It stressed my drill to press hard enough to bore the hole. It also made cupping around the perimeter of the hole. I ended up returning this item and buying a competitor model, which did a much cleaner cut. See my photos for side-by-side comparison. I like this item but I think it needs some fine tuning. And a sharper blade on the bit.

Heavy duty jig, the bit is sharp and does the job. Takes some time to adjust (instructions would have been helpful) but if you are handy enough to use/need this you can figure it out. Adjusting the setback isn't obvious if you're a first timer...glad I did a test piece first. The twin cam locks hold fast, but it's really awkward with the drill attached. All in all, a great value for the cost, easier to store than the blue brand and made of aluminum. Highly recommended. My only comment would be that this is fine for occasional use. Lost a star for no instructions on set-up.
