No more spending money at the store...
I recently lost my job and also recently started using a C-Pap. I convinced my wife, who also has a C-Pap, that we should distill our own water. Larger up-front fee, but in the long run, much cheaper. So glad we went this way. I'm recycling the original distilled water bottles now. Even using it for my coffee and cooking water.Helpful hint: Get a countdown timer switch to shut the machine off while there's a small amount of water left. I picked up one of these: https://a.co/d/cVnK5tZ and set it to a 3:30 timer. Then when I refill, I just hit the confim button on the switch and the process starts again. Now I don't have to make sure I'm home to stop it in time.I haven't had any leakage issues, it's built great, and the fan isn't as loud as many people have stated. Yeah, it takes a bit to get used to, but every desk/floor fan makes noise, this is quieter than most.

Best drinking water if you have hard water
We have well water that stains everything orange, tastes horrible, and stinks. Since we started distilling our water with this device we haven’t bought a bottle of water. We were going through like 8 gallons of distilled water jugs a week before buying this. It paid for itself in like 8 weeks. Not to mention it helped reduce our waste. It’s really easy to use even though it feels intimidating at first. All you have to do is put it together per the instructions, fill the tank up to the full line, put the top on, plug it in, set up the glass container with the piece that keeps the water from spilling out of the spout and turn it on. When you’re done, turn it off or let it shut off on its own (I usually shut it off a little before it’s done so the sediment doesn’t get caked to the tank), let it cool for 20 min bc it’s super hot inside, and then you pour in some regular citric acid and let it soak for 15 min and use that water to wipe down the sides and rinse. But you don’t have to wait for the tank to cool before using the water since they are separate components. My only wishes is that you could refill it right away instead of waiting for it to cool so you can get more water faster, I wish it had a timer so you could know when it’s close to being done, and I wish the tank was larger. If you hate the taste of your water this is a must buy.

Use daily
We live on a farm and our well water is very very hard. This removes lots of the gypsum so we can use it in my husbands cpap and our humidifier. We would use it in our coffee maker if we drank coffee. We drink it as well. When the cycle is over, there is a lot of crud in the bottom that it has removed from the water. Easy to clean. Highly recommend ordering more of the cleaner to remove all the “hard water” junk once a month or more frequently if needed.

Gets the job done—cleaning tips, complaints, comments
I bought this so I wouldn’t have to buy, lug, and store gallons upon gallons of distilled water in my apartment to run the humidifier I use to keep my guitar from drying out and cracking in thecwinter air. This distiller works like a charm, so 4 stars. 1 star off because I do have a list of complaints:- I have very hard city water. The amount of junk left over in the metal tub after a cycle is shocking. It bakes on (stinks!) and is impossible to wipe off. Better than spewing it all into the air via humidifier though.- The cleaning process is both easier and harder than it looks. It ships with a bottle of citric acid crystals. Go ahead and order yourself a bulk 2 pound bag or two of those things, you’ll need them. Throw 3 or 4 tablespoons of crystals into a fully filled distiller tub, and run a cycle with the top off. The scale will disappear in about 30-40 minutes, no muss no fuss. I like to poke at the scale now and again with a spatula while this is going on, but I’m a neurotic overachiever. It is NOT clear or easy how (or whether?) to clean the top part with the coils and fan. Do these need to be unscrewed, taken apart, cleaned, reassembled? Who knows??- This thing uses a lot of electricity and puts out a lot of heat. I ran it about 15 times and my power bill jumped $9 for the month (from $50 to $59, so it was noticeable). That could be because winter and price increase, or distiller use. Can’t tell yet. It does release a LOT of heat. I run it in my bathroom and it makes the room into a sauna. Great for winter! Toasty tile floor! That’s not great energy efficiency though.- It’s loud! I run it in the bathroom so I can close the door. If I ran it in my apt kitchen I would not be able to hear anything else, it’s about as loud as the over-stove fan set on low.- If you have long hair and run this thing on the floor, FOR THE LOVE OF CTHULU hold your hair back when you turn this thing on. The fan on top WANTS to grab your hair. You will cry.Over all, this thing does the job and even with my list of complaints and increase in electricity bill, it’s nice having distilled water on demand instead of having to go to the store and put more plastic jugs in the recycle bin where they probably won’t be recycled anyway. And even with that $9 jump in power bill, for at least 15 gallons worth of water it’s half the price of store bought.

Worth It for the Sanity – No More Manual Distilling Madness!
I use this water distiller for my CPAP and humidifiers, and let me just say: this machine is a game-changer. Does it leave a bit of a smell when in use? Yes. Does it leave behind some residue? Also yes. Do I care? Absolutely not. After suffering through the slow, messy torment of manual distillation—where you're juggling boiling water on the bottom and trying to keep water cold on the top like some kind of kitchen wizard—I will gladly take a whiff of metallic steam and give this machine a good cleaning now and then. The smell is temporary. The relief is eternal. This distiller makes a full gallon with way less fuss, and it shuts off automatically when it’s done—no babysitting required. The stainless steel design feels sturdy, and cleaning is straightforward with white vinegar or the included citric acid cleaner. Yes, you’ll need to do some maintenance, but that’s a small price to pay for not spending half your day hovering over a DIY contraption like a water alchemist. In short: if you're tired of plastic jugs, manual misery, or flaky scale buildup in your humidifiers and CPAP, this distiller is 100% worth it. My lungs and my sanity thank me daily.
