Matches my Craft Room Perfectly
I had a clock just like this that I got from IKEA years ago so when it finally quit working, I was sad to think I was not going to have my beautiful clock anymore. And then I saw it on Amazon! Exact same clock, exact same color. It arrived in a timely manner, thank goodness. It has a standard alarm which I never use but it’s nice and loud. It has a soft light that you can click on with a button on the back. I wish it were possible to keep the soft light on at all times but you can’t. You have to hold the button down to use the light. The size is perfect for a desktop or night stand though. Plus it’s super easy to use. Came with instructions but I don’t think they’re necessary.

Loud
Very loud. Great backup for my phone. Works great.

Nice even though box was damaged
Nice quality, functions well and it wakes up my husband who has started to sleep through the alarm on his phone! Uses only 1 battery. I will update my review if anything changes.

Matte coating dampens the clang? Ok for avg sleepers
Wouldn’t recommend for deep sleepers. Probably fine for average-depth(?) sleepers. Not as loud as I expected and has not been loud enough to wake me up (n=2, both times I was not awoken and overslept by ~60 mins and 85 mins, respectively). My other two alarm clocks of this hammer-bell style are Seikos with polished metal bells. When the hammer hits the bell, it’s a piercing clang and can wake me ~75% of the time. Unfortunately, the first shook itself off the nightstand and the hammer mechanism broke, the second recently took a fall but survived with a cracked dial cover and broken handle. Anyways - this Sharp clock has matte green coated bells, and I suspect that’s what dampens the *clang* to more of a pointy thud. When set off simultaneously with my disheveled Seiko, the abrasiveness and loudness of the alarming Seiko #easily# overwhelms the sound coming off the alarming Sharp, which I don’t find particularly abrasive at all. **Please keep in mind that I have not tried a Sharp with polished metal bells.** The clock is visually appealing and I like the dial with easily readable numbers of uniform size. Will probably regift since I’m sure this alarm would be adequate for most non-deep sleepers.

Great remake of a classic
This clock is very simplistic but works exactly like you would expect. It takes only one AA battery to operate, has a button to shine light on the clock at night, and two control knobs: time and alarm. Unlike its classic counterpart, it does not have a "contact" off button- like in the tv shows and movies where the child slams their hand on top of the metal ringing clock. It has a plastic up/down switch that turns the alarm on and off. If this is your first type of alarm clock, you should know that the red dial is the alarm indicator. There is no red minute hand. Rather, that one red dial controls the hour and minute you would like the alarm to go off at. Example: you want to wake up at 7:30. Turn the alarm knob on the back so that the red dial is exactly between the 7 and 8 on the clock. Because that's where the hour hand is on a clock when it is always 7:30. If you ever wonder where the hour hand is at a certain time, just adjust your time knob to the desired time and make a note of the positioning of the hour hand. Then move the red dial to that same position. The other knob controls the current time. That's easy. I have no suggestions on how to adjust that. There is no am/pm indicator, so just adjust it to whatever time it is where you live. This clock is mostly metal and has cheap internals. The dials are not as precise as I would like and sometimes when I move the alarm knob, the current time dial gets moved a little bit (millimeters). There is no battery indicator or warning that the battery may be low. I found out that the light for the clock (when you press the button) is an excellent indicator. It should be very bright. Put a fresh battery in just to see what it should look like optimally. I put a half-used battery in and didn't wake up the next day because the battery was not juiced up enough to make the ringing loud enough. Yes it still rang, but barely noticeable from a deep sleep. Put a fresh battery in and don't take a chance. And keep checking that light strength to see when you may need to replace it soon! Aside from that, the clock is great.

Very pretty, does the job, but was too 'wonky' for my liking.
This clock functions, but isn't the quality you'd expect from a company that has been making clocks for decades. I was using this as a desk clock so I could keep track of the time when running full-screen applications on my computer, for where the computer's clock wouldn't be visible. There were some mistakes with this clock that made me decide to return it, but it worked well for the three weeks I had it for (and did not break or anything). ---= What I liked about it =--- - Ticking noise; I'm a weirdo who actually likes when clocks tick, and this has one has a pretty sound as far as clocks go to my untrained ear. - In the 3 weeks I had the clock, it stayed perfectly in sync with the time I had set it (I manually had it synced with my computer's clock) - Beautiful design; I'm a huge fan of the font and the design of the hands. The reason I bought this was actually because of its pretty shape. The chrome design didn't harshly reflect the lights behind my monitor either, which would probably help to prevent the sun from harshly reflecting into one's eyes. (Not sure whether going blind or using a rat as an alarm clock instead would be worse; If you know, you know, but thankfully that's not a concern here). ---= Things I disliked about it, and ultimately why I returned it. =--- - The second hand is misaligned with the dashes (including where the minute turns over) - The alarm function goes off approximately 6-8 minutes after the time it is set to go off. - Setting the alarm with the knob will result in the time shifting slightly, and vice-versa. ---= Additional notes =--- - This clock has a button (not a touch like it describes on the box, which I'm kind of thankful for), that when held will light up the clock with a small bulb in the corner. The light turns off when the button is no longer being pushed. - The clock has a faint glow in the dark feature to its hands. - Neither of these were relevant to me, as I wasn't using this as a bedtime clock, but I'm sure this info could help someone. I'm very picky when it comes to clocks, so if little flaws like these are okay with you, go for it. It's a really pretty twin bell clock.

LOUD Alarm Clock...Exactly What I Was Looking For!
My twenty-something daughter is starting a new job which requires her to get up early. She put me in charge of finding an alarm clock that would ensure that she wake up in the morning. This Sharp twin-bell alarm clock meets the criteria. It is a fairly basic clock. Here's what you get: 1. There are only two settings on the back of the clock--one knob is for setting the time, the other is for setting the alarm time. To set the alarm time, simply rotate the alarm knob which moves the red alarm hand on the face of the clock. For example, set the red hand on the six, and your alarm will go off at six o'clock. To be honest, you have to simply eyeball it to get a specific time--say, 6:15 or 6:30. [Note: I find that it is a good idea to simply advance the clock to see exactly what time your alarm is set to go off and adjust accordingly if it was too soon or too late. Once you've got the alarm set, return the clock to the correct time.] 2. There is an alarm on/off switch on the back of the clock. To activate the alarm, turn to the "on" position. When the alarm goes off, the hammer at the top of the clock strikes the bells alternately. It is quite LOUD! The alarm will continue ringing until you turn the switch to "off." [I let it ring for ten minutes and it was still ringing.] There is no "snooze" option. 3. The clock runs on a single AA battery. [I would recommend replacing it every six months. The battery may last longer, but why run the risk?] 4. The hour and minute hands are luminous as well as the hash marks at each hour, but it is difficult to read the time in the dark. To remedy this, there is a "Light" button on the back of the clock which will light up the face while the button is depressed. 5. The clock face is four inches in diameter. From the bottom of the clock to the top of the handle, it measures slightly less than seven inches. Overall, this is an excellent little clock for the price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
