The border of the rug is much softer than the inset. I suspect there are other fibers mixed in with the wool that are not noted on the description. I paired the rug with a felt underlayment and it gives the extra plush feel I was looking for. I do love the rug and bought a matching runner. The colors are very striking with cream ,beige , blue, and a bit of navy makes this rug go with many different styles. It didn't take long for my dog to test it out.I received the rug sooner than my ship date. It's packaged very well.

I ordered the 9 by 12 Brown rug. Very happy with it, high quality heavy wool rug. It is just beautiful and elevates my space, looks much more expensive.

Update 28 October 2020: We loved it so much we bought a SECOND one, for another spot. BUY BUY BUYWe had a 6' square rug in the kitchen that needed replacing. Over the years, we've found that Safavieh is pretty much the best rugs per dollar that we can find, so we ordered this one. It's fantastic---an improvement over the (more expensive) rug we replaced. The pile is nice and deep, absolutely no need for a pad underneath to provide softness.Within 30 seconds of me putting it down, the dog decided to....mark....the rug. It cleaned up easily with no discernible stain or residual.Highly recommended.

This rug has a very mellow quality, but I wouldn't place it in a high use area such as for large family and pets. There is some shedding along the edges, but that is gradually decreasing.

Love the rug I ordered. Not only the quality is wonderful, the design is not busy and definitely brightens up the room.

This rug is so sturdy and well made. The transition of textures is a nice feature. Feels great on my bare feet. So super happy with this purchase. Not much shedding at all. We just rolled it out and began enjoying it.

Nice rug for my son’s room. Color was true to the picture. It sheds a little but not too bad as the majority is a loop style.

This carpet arrived a few days late, but well worth the wait. Looks simple, elegant, good quality.
