Worth the Effort
This is a fantastic kit and is worth the extra cost over the Tamiya kit. It has fantastic detail (especially if you go through the extreme difficulty of painting every detail) and is the centerpiece of my model collection. However, this kit IS NOT for the inexperienced modeler. Revell has given this kit their maximum difficulty rating for a good reason, and it took me almost two weeks of building and painting (I have built about a dozen models in my experience). There are also a few pieces (mostly railing) that do not fit well and require trimming by the modeler, as well as few errors in the last few pages of the instructions, such as incorrect parts labels (one of the last steps has a part labelled as being from the B spruce sheet when it was actually in the D spruce sheet). However, these are not hard to work around, as most of the parts are already on the model. Overall, I would certainly recommend this model for the experienced builder. Don't buy this for your 12 year old or as your first model, as you need a good amount of experience to get it looking like it's price.

Really nice model kit
Saw this next to a tamiya one and itโs night and day a much nicer kit for not much more money.

An Old but Nice Bismarck from Revell of Germany
I'm always seeking large WWII model kits to assemble. Nothing makes for a more compelling model than a big kit well assembled and accurately painted. The big three kit manufacturers I most rely on for historic accuracy and manufacturing quality is Tamiya, Revell of Germany and Hobby Master. This kit of the Bismarck is right down my line of interest. It is properly rated Level 5 for difficulty and complexity and when you open the big colorful box it comes in, you'll know why. The parts trees are many and on some there are almost 100 parts. There is also an extensive decal sheet (one would not think there would be one for a ship model) with very helpful waterline striping lines. If there is any indication of how detailed and accurate this kit is there is 101 steps in the kits assembly in its 28 pages of instructions, not including the painting chart and historical information page. I have been assembling model kits since 1960 and have sen the hobby develop and mature into what it is today. For example, here is a kit for almost every conceivable version of the Messerschmitt Bf-190 fighter, when I started there was one, from Aurora, it cost $1.98 then. To be honest in my review, I've just finished assembling and painting the hull and am awaiting paints and tools I need to make the kit a success and will be happy to post a final review when completed. Oh, one more thing. To be a successful model builder with kits of this scale and size one essential trait is required: patience. I recall when much younger I was in such a hurry to finish the little kits that they looked just as hurried as I was to play with them. At my current age, you don't play with a 42" German U-Boot model. It stays in its acrylic case, as ship will, for all to see and admire. Ken Hanover, Pennsylvania

A kit needing a little more improvement.
I'm a little bit disappointed for the reason that Revell has to me missed the mark on this model. To me there are too many decals that should be painted.

End of discussion
Since I was 13 years old I am building models. I had to suspend my hobby because I had no where to buy shops until I found and bought on Amazon. This model revell has any amount of detail, it is worth its price. Research in several sites Tamiya models, Trumpet, etc and always looked better Revell. If you have a hobby models arming, let me tell you that you will not regret if you buy this. It's almost a museum level. I give it 5 stars because it arrived on time, the relationship between price and product quality above all and most importantly, the instructions are well detailed, color schemes, etc..two thumbs up
