I needed to swap out the factory speakers on the side of my Forest River travel trailer, because the old rubber cones were basically disintegrating. I never liked the flashy blue LEDs on the original ones anyway, I just wanted something with a bit more backbone that wouldn't fall apart. Step up to the plate, Rockville MS525B. These have been bolted to the side of my rig for a year now and they still look almost as good as the day I installed them, which is saying something since the trailer stays uncovered in outside storage year-round. Sound-wise, these are light years ahead of the cheap factory junk Forest River installs. Let’s be honest, these are 5.25-inch speakers, so they have zero bass, but that’s not what they’re built for. For sitting around the campfire and having some tunes playing in the background, they’re clear and tonal. Nothing about the sound is overtly sharp or disorienting, just a solid upgrade for outdoor listening. The Good and the Bad -- Weatherproof Build: The IP56 rating is the real deal. After a year of sun, rain, and storage outside, the grilles haven't rusted and the cones are still solid. -- Clean Aesthetics: No obnoxious LEDs here. The black, anti-UV ABS plastic looks professional and blends right into the trailer wall. -- Clear Mids and Highs: The sound is crisp and much more detailed than stock camper speakers, making it great for acoustic tracks or podcasts at the campsite. -- Low-End Limitations: Like any speaker this size, the bass is non-existent. If you want a thumping system, you'll need to look at adding a sub. -- Plasticity Feel: While durable, the housing feels a bit "plasticky" during the install, so just be careful not to over-torque your mounting screws.
