Amazing Odor Eliminator with a Great Clean Scent
The Downy Rinse Laundry Odor Remover in Cool Cotton scent is an excellent product. Iโve used a lot of different laundry additives over the years, and this one really stands out when it comes to eliminating odors and leaving clothes smelling fresh. What impressed me most is how well it removes stubborn odors. Whether itโs workout clothes, towels, or everyday laundry, this rinse does an amazing job at getting rid of unwanted smells that regular detergent sometimes leaves behind. The Cool Cotton scent is fantastic. It leaves clothes smelling clean, fresh, and light without being overpowering. Instead of a heavy perfume smell, it gives fabrics that crisp โjust washedโ freshness that lasts. Itโs also very easy to use. You simply add it during the rinse cycle, and it works alongside your regular detergent to help break down and remove odor-causing residue from fabrics. Another thing I like is that a little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts quite a while even with regular use. Overall, this product has become a regular part of my laundry routine. It consistently leaves clothes smelling clean and helps eliminate odors much better than detergent alone. If you want something that really works for odor removal while leaving a great fresh scent, this is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended for keeping laundry fresh and clean.

Downy did it again. Great quality product and smells amazing
This is the first time that I've ever used this product. It does have a nice mellow scent to it and it's not overwhelming. I like to use this on my towels, but first I always add Active Wear Laundry Powder to all of our Laundry, especially the laundry that stinks from sweat and body odor. So using two great products at one time is great. I'll probably buy another bottle when needed. If you have any that has a really bad odor, you need to add Active Wear Laundry Powder to all your laundry first. One bag does 90 loads. It's a little pricey but you don't have to use it all the time. Just like this Downy Rinse Laundry Odor Removal. Using them both at the same time is a game changer for your laundry. A slight leakage when the bottle arrived but not a lot of it. This is skin friendly. My grandson has very sensitive skin and no issues with this product. It's a great quality product and I'll purchase again when needed.

Really does work... Absurdly expensive... Possibly worth it if you need it.
This "Downy Rinse and Refresh" actually did freshen my laundry. It works better than vinegar for removing odors and detergent residue. I had a seemingly unsolvable laundry odor problem. I think it resulted from using too much detergent along with an HE clothes washer that does not use enough water to rinse well. My clean clothes would begin to smell in storage or while wearing them. I previously tried other remedies such as vinegar rinses and even Lysol disinfecting additive. Finally, this Downy Rinse made a significant difference. Downy Rinse is a big improvement. My clothes appear noticeably brighter and cleaner. The recurring malodor is reduced. There are some product downsides though. The Downy is dispensed very late in the last rinse cycle and only briefly reaches fabrics. Running a separate rinse and spin cycle using Downy Rinse might be more effective. Another downside is the product price. Downy Rinse is expensive for everyday use. The very vague directions suggest 1/4 cup per load. That is only 24 loads per 48 oz. bottle. That works out to 54 cents per load (based on $13 for a 48 oz. bottle). That load cost is higher than detergent. Yet, I suppose if you really need a solution to odors then almost any price is worth it. I plan to keep using Downy Rinse indefinitely. I've run through three bottles so far. One more note, the product scent is strong and remains after drying. It doesn't bother me. You may have experienced my same problem. Odorous "clean" laundry seems to be common now. Probably due to HE washers. The odor problem has a name, "rebloom." You can find explanations and tips online. The active ingredient in this Downy Rinse is citric acid. The citric acid breaks down old detergent residue that coated the cloth fibers. That old residue traps dirt and bacteria underneath. Hence the odor that recurs even after washing. This citric acid Downy Rinse solves the problem. Downy Rinse is not just a perfume.

Essential Step in My โBest-Smelling Laundryโ Routine
The Downy Rinse & Refresh Laundry Odor Remover and Fabric Softener (Cool Cotton) is now a non-negotiable part of my laundry recipe. I use it right after detergent โ before the final rinse (put it in the fabric softener tray) โ and it completely eliminates any lingering odors while leaving clothes soft, fresh, and impossibly clean-smelling. In my full โbest-smelling laundryโ routine: Detergent: Tide Hygienic Clean or Persil Intense Fresh. Odor Neutralizer: Downy Rinse & Refresh (Cool Cotton) โ this step transforms the load. Softener or Beads (optional): Downy Infusions Calm or Unstopables Light. Dryer Finish: Wool dryer balls misted with diluted Downy spray. The Cool Cotton scent is crisp, not overly sweet, and lingers for days without being heavy. It even revives workout gear and towels that normal detergent canโt fix. โ Actually removes odor, not just masks it โ Leaves fabrics soft and residue-free โ Fresh scent lasts long after drying Overall: A total game-changer โ the secret ingredient to laundry that smells professionally cleaned.

Ridiculously Clean. Reduced Drying. No Directions on Dose
4.15.23~ This was an impulse buy to get P&G rebate. Not really a downy fan (gasp I know). Used to be but now use baking soda bc skin allergies. However use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer so thought this may be an alternative to try. Cool Cotton Scent is Soft. No heavy perfume in bottle or clothes. Just smells clean. So here's the thing~ There are no words or proper description to describe what this does. I know it saaaays it removes residue & odor but not like anything I've ever used. My clothes feel Squeaky Clean. Like your face after exfoliating. Can feeeeel the difference coming out of the washer. Clothes dry quicker. Like 20%. That last bit of damp that usually holds on? Gone. Still wrinkles on full dry, like if you don't use Downy or Baking soda softener. It's a life altering product. Especially for Humid living, Sweaty working people. So why 4 Stars? The Dose. There is No Info anywhere on bottle saying how much to Use. The cap is maybe 2 Tablespoons but for what size load? Is this like a pod situation that you start with 2 and increase to soil & fill level? We may never know. The bottle doesn't even say How many Loads to Expect. C'mon P&G, you're better than this right? To get "Squeaky Clean" Clothes, Towels, Linens, even sneakers, Used almost half a bottle for Spring Cleaning wash at Laundromat. The Front loader is what my place calls "Super". Equivalent to (2) Top Load washes. **How Much I used** Like I said Spring Cleaning and it was my 1st time using the 'Rinse & Refresh'. One Load~ Set of Queen Sheets & Full load of very gross, dried in, sweaty clothes. Used Gain concentrate cap as measure (the one in the Eco Box like Wine). 2Caps per Load. Half cap added to liquid detergent in Pre And Regular Wash Full Cap in Fabric Softener space. That 3x's depleted bottle to just over half. As this is a Residue Remover, only going to use Now & Again. Will stay with My Beloved Lysol Laundry for Weekly Wash. Downy Rinse & Refresh will get pulled out For Deep Clean every couple months. Would I use it more often with directions or if it was 6 bucks like Lysol vs 12? Yes. All I needed to wash was Detergent & Downy. Usually must layer baking soda in dry clothes & vinegar in liquid soap. Neither of these Ever Ever got my clothes this Ridiculously Immaculate.

Removes Odors and Cleans, too
As horse ranch owners, my husband's clothes are beyond stinky from old man body odor and grimy filth. To remotely get his clothes clean, I had to soak overnight in vinegar and baking soda. Then I would put them in the HE washer and have to run them through 3 full heavy duty cycles. Still only passably clean. I decided to try Downey Rinse Laundry Odor Remover. I have been able to eliminate the vinegar soak and have reduced the loads to two times. They actually come out pretty clean and are deodorized, smelling fresh. As for my clothes, and household laundry, one normal washing will do it and the results are worth it.

Really strips-out mildew and musty smells - not just a cover-up/add-on scent.
This stuff really does work. I line dry a lot of cotton clothes. In high humidity, the slow dry time can result in musty mildew odors over time. This Downy Rinse was the only thing that really worked. Scent beads just made things smell like mildew AND flowers mixed. Marketing hype says this stuff is pH engineered to strip-out excess soap residue and really clean-out the odor causing elements. But I believe the hype. It works. And I really like this particular scent. I put it in the fabric softener spot in the washer. We've had no issues with skin sensitivity. Good price performance. Little goes a long way.
