Works but dies fast
This door has to be plugged in all the time to be reliable. It works to let the chickens out and lock them up at night. It also has a sensor if something is ok the way it won't shut.

Not enough charge
Got this so that I wouldn't need to let my girls out when the weather is fowl...Pros:easy installationdurableautomatic open/closewont injure the girls if they are in the entrywayCons:doesn't hold a charge, especially in cold weather, which is most of our time. It really should come with a solar panel.I think it would be worth paying a little bit more and getting a model that has a better power source.

Needs charging frequently
Works great but has to be charged pretty frequently

It needs plugged in to have it reliably work.
This door has pros and cons. My biggest con is that my chicken coop is to far away from our house for the door to be connected to power. I had the understanding that this door could just run with a charge and not be continually plugged in. I’ve never been able to keep it charged enough to work continuously. It dies to fast and so is unreliable to me.The pro for this door. It opens and shuts automatically and I’ve never had an issue with that. In the morning it opens and when it gets dark it shuts.I need to figure out a way to connect permanent power to it and after that I would trust it

A decent chicken door for a backyard coop
The door comes well packaged in a tough cardboard box. Even with the tough cardboard ours came with a small gouge out of it. For the most part it was undamaged but there is a small, stick on cable retention clip that was broken. Not a big deal. After giving it an initial charge, I turned it on to try it out. It opened once I brought it directly underneath the light. Then I covered the light sensor to get the door to close but it wouldn’t. I checked to make sure that it was not set up for a delay, and it was not. I tried it again, it started to close but stopped when the bottom of the door got caught by the base of the door frame and went back up. I can see why the instructions tell you to install it before testing, because the door frame bows a little at the bottom when it’s not mounted. I just hate mounting anything before I know if it works. Our chicken coop is a pretty good distance from our main house, and we prefer not to have a lot of things permanently plugged in to our power. So we thought this door might be a good fit for our situation since it seemed to run off of rechargeable battery power. From all the documentation on the instructions and Internet it seems that one is expected to leave it plugged in. Everything I’ve seen keeps referring to 28 days “in the event of power failure” but every picture I’ve seen shows it without the cable plugged in to the unit. It does have a sticker on the top that says “The device shall be connected to the power supply for daily using, and its battery shall be used as an emergency guarantee.” (see pic). Our plan is to use a portable USB solar panel to keep it charged. I will reinforce the connections with silicone or home made oogu for additional waterproofing.I am impressed with the simple design of this unit, compact and self-contained. A single gear driving driving the door itself through a series of slots cut down the center and all the electronics contained in the top.I am concerned about the main driving gear being made of plastic. The directions make it sound like that was a deliberate choice by the manufacturer to prevent metal to metal wear. I guess time will tell.Instructions talk about using a device app called “Graffiti“ which I was not able to find on the Apple app store but I did search the app Store under the brand name PETNF and their app did come up. I download it and this chicken coop door is listed, but I was never able to get the device to reset with the instructions from the app. So I was never able to connect my device to the chicken door. All in all, this chicken door does seem to have a lot going for it, and would be great for an urban chicken coop set up in the backyard, but I am not sure how practical it is in a rural/farm setting.
