A terrific product at an unbeatable price
This Brondell Bidet - Thinline SimpleSpa SS-150 is one terrific product! I ordered this bidet after reviewing the customer comments on a number of similar bidets costing less than $100. Not only was the price a deciding factor, prior customers reviews were glowing and frequently quite entertaining! In addition, I liked the simple design because it facilitated ease of cleaning. Now for my personally sobering experience. I ordered the Brondell Bidet for use on the following toilet in my master bathroom which has straight sides in the back for ease of cleaning: - Kohler K-3654 Persuade Dual Flush Unfortunately, this design would not accommodate the Brondell Bidet, even after I paid a plumber $262 to install an adapter valve at the water shut off valve. It turns out that the "deck" where the toilet seats attach on both these toilets was too deep to accommodate the design of the Brondell Bidet. 5/27/20 Update: Now for the good news: After over a year of procrastination, and with lots of time on my hands during this Covid quarrantine, I finally decided to try again to install my Brondell SS-150 on the following toilet: American Standard Cadet Model #2989.101.020 Concealed Trapway, which has a self closing toilet seat. As you will note from the picture, there was a very tight space between the toilet and the shower next to it. Combine this with the fact that since recovering from bilateral carpal tunnel surgery, I have limited hand strength. As a result, my installation became more challenging. In the 2nd pix, the existing adapter at the bottom of the toilet tank is clearly marked "Hand Tighten. Use No Tools". Unfortunately, given my lack of hand strength I used a wrench to loosen it, turned it the wrong way and consequently created an invisible crack causing it to leak when I tried to reattach it. So I had to purchase a $8.00 replacement from my local (wonderful) plumbing supply house. By the way, you will need to use a small 7" tongue & groove pliers wrench to loosen the plain metal connector. All of which is to say, this installation is quite possible, and eventually was wildly successful! I gave a 2nd Brondell Bidet to a friend and helped her install it. Because her toilet had a rigid pipe from under the toilet tank to the shut off valve near the floor, we had to make a stop at our local plumbing supply house to obtain a 12" flexible braided hose to complete the proper connection. The specifics are clearly spelled out in the installation guide accompanying the Brondell Bidet. We needed a broad flat bladed screw driver to loosen the toilet seat anchor bolts, and both a large and a small adjustable wrench to deal with the various nuts. Following our successful installation, each of us privately took turns trying out the bidet. Voila! We could not have been more pleased with the simple operation and effectiveness of the bidet which is operated on the right side of the toilet. Although we installed it in January, the cool water was not at all uncomfortable - could be considered soothing to those with "issues". The force of the spray is effortless to adjust. By the way we are ladies in our 70's. Although I plan to buy more of these bidets as gifts for my family members - won't they be surprised!! But now I have to hunt for a bidet which suits my less than common Kohler toilet.

Amazing and worry free with slight modification!!
Toilet: Kohler Santa Rosa Ordered the brondell thinline for my mother who is elderly, has a leg amputation, and Parkinson’s. Thought it would help her bathroom experience and hygiene and I was right. Decided to order one for myself to try it first and absolutely love having a bidet now. Everyone without one is living in the dark ages. Should be the law in this country that everyone have one. Love it!! That being said, as per the photos, I made a slight modification that I think many people might wanna make and I’ll explain why. I’m a single male aged 40 and also a diy guy when it comes to construction, plumbing, etc. I installed this in my master bathroom. Tried it and loved it. But here is the problem with nearly all bidets like this one. They put a t-valve between your supply line from the wall and your toilet. Then the t-valve is connected to the bidet, which has a valve to turn the bidet on/off when in use. The issue here is that if the bidet valve fails or a part of the bidet breaks, you have full water pressure from the supply line ready to flood the house. This isn’t a problem when a toilet fails internally because the water just goes into the overflow and into the bowl and down the toilet drain. But now if the bidet breaks, the only place for that water to go is likely all over your bathroom floor until you realize it’s leaking. Because I’m out of the house all day and nobody is home, I could come home to who knows how many feet of water in my entire house if it fails while I’m gone. I’m not saying this bidet is cheaply made. But it’s not super expensive and I get you don’t get the world’s finest materials for this price point. And I’m okay with that. But what I needed was a more reliable fail safe for when I’m not home. What I did was I went to Lowe’s and found a straight silver (to match the color and hardware in my bathroom) quarter turn ball valve with a 3/8 male end for a supply line hose to a 3/8 lead pipe female end. It was like $8. I also got a new supply line hose because the hose that comes with the bidet won’t accommodate the new valve I bought. The supply line hose is a 3/8 to 3/8 FIP 20 inch hose. I hooked the new 3/8 inch supply line hose to the t-valve that comes with the bidet. I hooked the other end of the 3/8 inch supply line to the new quarter turn ball valve. Then I hooked the ball valve to the bidet arm. The purpose of this is so that I can keep the quarter turn ball valve off at all times when the bidet is not in use. The ball valve is plumbing grade and would be super unusual to have a catastrophic failure. So I know I’ve essentially prevented a flood if the bidet breaks because it has no water pressure to it until I turn on the quarter turn ball valve. And it’s redundant protection because if the ball valve did fail the water would still have to get through the bidet valve. It is super easy to turn the ball valve a quarter turn while you’re on the toilet because it sits right below the bidet valve. It’s rather discrete as well and doesn’t look out of place at all. I turn on the ball valve, do my business, turn the bidet valve to clean up, turn off the bidet valve and then turn off the quarter turn valve. Takes no time at all. But now I don’t worry about flooding all day while at work. That supply line hose and quarter turn valve are designed to withstand constant plumbing pressure. I did need to get a 1/4” rubber washer for the quarter turn valve, as the valve doesn’t come with one. You get a bunch of those washers for like a buck or so at Home Depot. I’m sure Lowe’s has them also. I also used plumbers tape at the connection between the quarter turn ball valve and bidet arm to ensure a leak free connection. Be careful when installing the quarter turn valve that you don’t over tighten it so tight you break the plastic on the bidet arm connection. I got a nice tight and snug fit and was able to keep the handle of the quarter turn ball valve on the outside of the bidet arm for easy access. I hope this helps people feel a greater sense of ease from the fear of a leaking bidet. My brother mimicked my modification and found it to be helpful in keeping his 3 year old boy from turning on the bidet on accident. The quarter turn valve is harder for a toddler to turn than the bidet valve. They’d also have to know to turn them both on to get it to work. So it’s a little bit of a toddler proofing as well. Also, to make the seat sit completely flat without pressure on the bidet, I added four 1” fender washers under each hinge of the toilet seat between the hinge and the bidet. It raised the hinges up just enough that the toilet seat doesn’t contact the bidet and allows the seat to touch the front of the toilet without rising up when nobody is sitting on it. Again, discrete, easy, cheap, and effective. I have to say, I’m super happy with the setup. Brondell, you’re welcome to send me any royalties if you incorporate my idea into your product as a standard feature, which I highly recommend. Anyway, I hope all you new bidet owners enjoy your new level of freshness. We can never go back. For those that don’t have a bidet, take a chance to live like a king.

Surprisingly effective and simple to install
I was hesitant to buy a $50 DIY plumbing attachment knowing that the usual outcome is an emergency call to a plumber on a weekend for $300 extra. But that didn't happen. The bidet kit came well-packaged with clear instructions and the caveats duly noted ("DO NOT..."). Fitting the T and new hose was simple, although twisting on the nut to connect the tank fitting also twisted the float valve assembly inside the tank enough so the float rubbed against the tank wall and wouldn't rise all the way. Easy to correct. When all looked good I held my breath and opened the shutoff a crack, then some more, then all the way. Everything was good. Except a small drip from somewhere...about one drop per minute. Eventually I traced the problem to a fitting that needed another quarter turn with the wrench. After that, everything really good. Note: the kit comes with Teflon tape but this is not mentioned in the instructions. It is highly advised to use he tape on all threads. In operation the bidet is simple to use: one control with a pretty good flow gradient so you aren't sitting on an F-18 ejection seat. I now wonder what took me so long to buy this thing. TP costs will definitely go down. Hygiene is the real benefit. Oh, the first time I tried/tested operation, nothing happened. Well, something happened because while I could hear water escaping the nozzle nothing was reaching its target. I thought at first that pressure on the seat was restricting the flow. I got off and crouched in front and tweaked open the control, upon which I got a free face wash. I'd been turning the control knob in the wrong direction. Murphy's Law. I don't hesitate to recommend this low-cost model to anyone. Where I live the cold water temperature is about lukewarm so a heated unit with the extra complexity and cost wasn't justified. If you live in Maine that's a different story.

Love it
We love this bidet. Installation was easy only issue we had was a that’s all connector to the toilet hose. If you’re not careful, you can strip the plastic connector coming out from the toilet other than that it works great.

This is so good!
I have never felt more qualified to write a review in my life. I ordered this on a whim. I've never used a bidet in my life before, and really only knew about them from people mistaking them for water fountains in 80s comedies, but I'd been thinking about this purchase for a while now. I had a lot of questions about how it would work and whether it would hit the bullseye so to speak, but for $25ish dollars, I figured I'd give it a go. This was literally my gift to myself from my tax return this year. The day it arrived, I was starting to feel sick. Just a sort of odd rumble in my stomach, like distant thunder. I ended up sick in bed for 4 days, but I'm sort of impatient with toys so I went ahead and installed it right away. It's super easy, especially if you're even slightly handy. I mean, I installed it in a dazed stupor, so take that for what you will. But then it just sort of sat there for a few days, barely used, because I got so sick I didn't eat anything. And once I started to feel better, most of what I ate was rather liquidy - soups and things like that. Well, I'll spare the details, but a stomach bug plus not so solid food led to about a day and a half of just the most crazy trips to the bathroom I've experienced in a while. I made more pit stops than a NASCAR with a 2 gallon gas tank. Suffice it to say, I'm now an expert on all things bidet, from use to cleaning. First of all, it cleans well. The stream hits its mark, and the pressure is easy to adjust. The feel of it seems like work is getting done without it being at all painful. The water temperature isn't shocking, and so it does the job well. But the biggest plus for me was that I didn't rug burn my sensitive parts with a lot of toilet paper. I know you know that feeling, after an especially grueling day of bathroom trips after one too many burritos. Even with the super soft stuff, after a dozen trips to the can in a day, there's gonna be some wear and tear. Not an issue with this thing! That alone is worth it. Cleaning it is really a breeze, and I know this from experience. A lot of experience. There's a cleaning setting for the nozzle, which works, but also a little protector cover over it. That thing got pretty peppered by the dirty bombs I was dropping, but cleanup was quick with a toilet brush, and the cover actually swings to the side so you can even clean behind it. (Yup. You can clean it's behind area after it cleans yours.) I have a few quibbles, mostly that because it's made to fit most toilets, it looks an added on accessory, if you look at where it attaches while the seat is down. Also, because the water line attaches at the end of the arm, rather than back closer to the actual toilet, you have a water line sort of floating out there beside the toilet. And the one thing that's an issue with any bidet is just what to do about your wet butt when you're done. I thought a sheet of toilet paper would do the trick, but that's designed to dissolve in water, so it just sort of falls apart in your hand. Still figuring this part out...I've just been reading one more article and letting everything air dry. But overall, I'm incredibly happy with this and it came at just the right time. I would get this again in a heartbeat. Love it.

Why didn’t we get this sooner?
What a great device. Easy to install, easier to use. It does exactly what it says it does, clean one’s nether areas. What really surprised me is how strong the water flow is without any electricity. The pressure is easily adjustable. We do not have warm water close to the toilet, so we use cold water, but that is not an issue. It’s not as unpleasant as it sounds. All in all, great little device. I recommend it highly.

It's a kind of magic!
This is the 5th bidet we have tried in our household, having tried others before. This is just to say that I am not a novice when it comes to installing and using the bidets. Here is a list of issues I have faced in the past: 1. Leaky installation: Most common! I have had to disconnect, re-connect, loosen, tighten, put a teflon tape on ... and in one case, junk the darned unit after trying it with different connector pipes and so on 2. Missing hardware: In one case, the bidet came without a connector pipe and had to buy the pipe on my own. Complaining did not help ("oh, we always send it with the pipe"), and as it happens, this was unit that was junked. 3. Leak after a year of use: One bidet started leaking in about 14 months. The inlet fed a plastic tube inside the seat that went to the nozzle, and the nozzle-end of the tube was frayed and the unit had to be replaced. 4. Confusing instructions: In one case, I remember there was no clarity on how a rubber gasket was to be placed within a connector (yep, the very one that was junked) and I must have ended up buying hardware worth about the price of the original unit to make it work. The reason I mentioned the problems above is to say that with Brondell, I had none of these so far! The bidet fit without any leaks in the first attempt, it came with all necessary hardware (and a first - teflon tape!!! - thank you, Brondell! - even though I had some with me, I truly appreciated the thoughfulness of Brondell in ensuring that the installation goes swiftly), the inlet to nozzle connection seems to be using a stainless stell tube rather than a plastic tube and best of all, the operation of the bidet can be controlled via the nifty/futuristic looking knob that also allows you to clean the nozzle upon turning it on the other direction. I have measured the amount of time it took for me to install it in the smallest bathroom, where access is not as easy as in the other ones. Under 45 minutes, including keeping it under observation, wrapping up my tools, getting rid of the packaging and general cleaning of the cistern. Another remarkable thing - never once did I have a moment that had me stumped or worked up. That in and of itself must count as something! Five stars .. no doubt!

Nice Basic Bidet
A nice basic bidet attachment for the price. I like that the attach plate is thin and relatively solid (two openings for the toilet seat screws. The more solid the back plate, the better. I looked at another model that had an attach plate in a grid pattern. This would make it very hard to clean the area between the back of the toilet seat and the front of the tank. This model does not have hot water. I wanted heated water, but the landlord would have a fit if I drilled a hole in the wall or the nice vanity to tap the hot water line. So far, I have not missed the warm water--the cold water is not uncomfortable. Also, my guess is you would have to run warm-water bidets for a while to clear the cool water before you get to the warm water. While you are waiting for delivery of you bidet, you will want to make sure you have the equipment you will need: a bucket or other receptacle plus a towel/sponge/rag in case of drips, a screwdriver that will fit the screws on your toilet seat, a small wrench to tighten the bidet fittings, and possibly toilet seat replacement screws--especially if they are plastic. The bidet installation is not that complicated, but can take some time if you have never replaced a toilet seat before--(that's me). I never realized that the seat screws were under a cap on the back of the seat--and not screwed in from below. YouTube has very good videos on how to replace a toilet seat. My installation process took close to an hour*--mainly because of false starts, gathering tools, and looking at those YouTube videos. If you know what you are doing, installation would take about 10 - 15 minutes. * Actually it took closer to 2 hours --this included a run to a big-box home improvement store because I stripped/broke one of the plastic toilet seat screws. I highly recommend that you get a bidet--even if you don't get this particular model. It is very useful--especially when you want a little extra freshness without taking the time for a bath or shower.

NOT Compatible for use in the UK
The threading on T-valve and hose are for US specifications and cannot be used in the UK. I have not been able to find a correct adaptor. Amazon should not offer these for sale on its .uk site.

Easy to use even for kids
The Brondell Thinline SimpleSpa SS-150 is a great product and has worked really well for our family. It’s very easy to use, even for kids, and all the functions work perfectly. Installation and daily use are simple and convenient. One thing I really like is its durability — it has lasted around 3–4 years without any issues. Good quality, reliable, and definitely worth the purchase!

Saved us from a house fire!
Great product, variable pressure settings and super easy to install. Bathroom fan caught fire, fire fell from ceiling and melted the bidet. The melted bidet separated from the water line and started spraying water all over the bathroom, keeping it limited and stopping it spreading through the rest of our home. Truly the hero of the situation! I've recommended to everyone that they buy one and ill definitely be replacing mine!
