I do a lot of baking and finally treated myself to this kit which has a lame (knife) to make slits in a loaf top, banneton to let the dough rise, and a liner for the banneton. You don't really clean the banneton after use--just shake out any extra flour, etc, before storage so it is easy to take care of it. The reason I like the set is that i make those round loaves in a cast iron pot and it is much, much easier to dump the bread into the hot cast iron pot from the banneton than a bowl or other dish because the banneton is light and the right shape. I have arthritis and it is difficult for me to manipulate heavy things so the banneton makes my life much easier.I use rice flour in mine as it works best to keep dough from sticking. Also, sometimes I use a piece of parchment as a liner since I can use the ends of the parchment to lift the loaf out of the banneton and place it directly into the cast iron pot (and then out of the pot when the bread is done).The banneton also makes those pretty ridges in the bread as it rises, which is aesthetically pleasing. The banneton set may not be essential but it certainly makes making bread easier for me.

I would argue that this does come with an odor. However, the odor goes away after a week or so if you leave the baskets out. Also the smell does not transfer to the bread, so no worries there either. I was dissappointed with the scraper because I thought it would be plastic and flexible, but it's not. I haven't used it yet. I also haven't used the little razor cutter or the baster, but all in all I feel this is a good quality set and I'm happy with it!

This is a sturdy banneton and I would give it 5 stars but I paid for the Round and Oval set and only received the round one. I would've returned it, but at the time I needed an extra banneton and couldn't wait. Oh well.

This morning I tipped a sourdough loaf from my new Sondiko Bakery 10 inch Benneton into my dutch oven and a half hour later took a perfect loaf from the oven. The dough proofed overnight in the refrigerator, came out of the proofing basket perfectly, and was eaten for breakfast!The basket is well made, solid, and should last for years. The linen cover is well made and fits perfectly. With all the offers from different Benneton sellers on Amazon, it may be hard to pick the right one. This order shipped immediately and arrived within two or three days. Some sellers are months out, but Sondiko delivered. Highly recommended.

I got this as a gift for my neighbor. She makes a lot of homemade bread, so I'm hoping she like and get some use from this. Her bread is amazing!!! I thought it was to come with other tools but nothing was in the box but the bowl that i have in the pics?? But overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I have had no problems with the seller and would buy from them again. They were very fast with the shipping and that's a plus for me.

Mine didn’t come with bread scoring tool or any of the replacements. Everything else was as pictured and fine quality. After reporting the issue to the seller they sent out a replacement. I they were responsive and easy to work with. Totally recommend

Like most this year, I started baking my own sourdough bread and bought this proofing basket to up my game. It’s a very basic set, but very effective. I usually use the cover for the basket; while I like the lines it leaves on my loaves, you have to add so much flour to keep the dough from sticking. The lame and plastic paddle are both low quality but get the job done. The cover is also machine washable, which makes cleanup a breeze. I’ve noticed some splinters on the wood, but it’s not a huge issue since I use the cover.

I use this to bake my sourdough bread everytime and it works perfectly. You can use the basket by itself without the cover if you want the patterns on your bread, or line it with the cover if you want a smoother looking exterior to score afterwards. It does have some small splinters sticking out, but those won't get loose and won't affect your bread. I typically do not wash the basket, just smack it a few times to knock off any loose flour and store in a dry place.

Great product- makes sure you clean it really well before using the first time- small flecks of wood are on the surfaces

I like the ease of use, and the proofing cover. I did not really like the decorating tool, as it was a tad flexible. Still, a great buy

Do not purchase. This basket has gaps between the rings of the basket. If you want the patterned look for your bread and don’t want to use the cloth, it cant be used. The dough will seep through the gaps making it impossible to remove. The scoring blade is fully rusted and very flimsy. Over priced for sure. I will head to a kitchen store to purchase a new proofing basket. Quality is more like something you could purchase at a dollar store. Shipping was prompt, hence my 1 star.
