If you're ready for something faster and more reliable than a "toy" you might find at Walmart or Amazon, but don't want to spend $200 at the hobby shop, this car is the perfect fit. I got my kids RC cars when they were younger and they really liked them but they were cheap toys and once they broke we couldn't repair them or find parts. We were ready for something of "hobby" grade, but that can get really expensive pretty quick. This car from HaiBoxing has the durability, performance, and parts availability of a true "hobby" grade car without the huge cost. A couple highlights: -Fast - Great acceleration, and decent top speed. -Great handling - a smaller car like this can be hard to drive straight but this tracks really nicely, quite a surprise. -Fun - Racing, doughnuts, drifting, jumps, no problem! -Great quality build - though this is very affordable, it has a lot of the higher end things you'd want in an RC like 4 wheel drive and metal drive train including metal dogbones. Those are often plastic on this size and price of car. -Durable - It seems well-made and we've flipped it and crashed it with no problems so far. Because it's so light, even if it crashes at full speed, there just isn't a lot of forces or inertia to cause damage. -Great battery life - The 850 mAh battery lasts for probably 20 minutes, and then there's a second battery, too, which means there's enough juice for everybody to get a turn driving, even Dad. I also like that the battery has the Dean's/T-plug connector. A lot of smaller cars have a proprietary connector, but the Dean's is very common so if you want to get a bigger battery down the line or want to swap out a battery from another car it's not a problem. -Stickers - It came with a sheet of sticker decals that you can put on the truck to customize how you like. My kids thought that was great. -Low Speed Mode - An absolute must! We found this out the hard way. We had another car that didn't have a low speed mode, and it was just too fast to control safely in the house or for the beginner. With this car, a quick switch and your top speed is reduced probably 40% which means you can now drive in the house without damaging the wood or running over the cat. It's also a really nice feature to have if you want to let the neighbor kid or a novice drive the car without you wincing every time he almost t-bones a cement curb. -Parts Availability - We haven't broken anything yet, but when kids are driving at these speeds, eventually something will break, so you want to make sure you can get parts otherwise it's very frustrating to just have a nice car sitting on a shelf because it won't run. I checked ahead of time for this model and every single part on it is available separately so that's good to know. Overall we're extremely pleased with this car and I think it's the perfect fit for the kid who's ready for something faster and better quality than the typical WalMart toy. As an adult, I like it, too. It's fun to do doughnuts and bash around outside, but I just can't justify paying $200 for an RC car, so this car really fits the bill.

I picked this up because I was tired of the slow and cheap RC cars my 7yo son had received over the years as gifts, and I wanted to show him what fun RC can truly be. I was impressed by how fast and durable it is. It’s great for jumps, sliding, and doughnuts, on gravel, dirt, street, or concrete. The two included batteries actually give a lot of drive time. I highly recommend this truck. I had to get another for myself immediately, so we could drive together. It’s a ready to ride set but almost everything is upgradable or replaceable. A couple of recommendations: while I absolutely recommend this truck at this price point, if you know you’re going to put a lot of use into this I recommend going for the next level up Haiboxing 1/18 truck with the brushless motor, primarily for the included upgrades. We upgraded our shocks to oil filled shocks so it would handle better on gravel, which was a noticeable improvement. The brushless motor model comes with oil shocks included. We also upgraded to the metal gears set, because the included plastic gears will wear out over time. Metal gears are included on the brushless motor model. Again, the shocks were optional per our preference, but the gears were a necessity. So if you know you’ll drive a lot, it’s recommended pay for the one step higher model and you’ll actually save money on these upgrades overall. If you’re unsure how much use you’ll put in, or will drive only occasionally, this is a perfectly great truck. (We drive for at least 1 full battery every day, for comparison.) One neat aspect is that it’s possible to upgrade every part until this truck is the same as the brushless motor model, so if you are invested in this truck, you could turn it into the upgraded model piece by piece if you like.

Wow, what can I say about this little beast. Probably one of the best little basher there is. It exceeds expectations, it is super tough, very quick for it's size and handles great. The "fun factor" of these are way higher than many other faster more "high end" name branded RCs. I have 3 of these myself. After showing them off to my family and friends, they have ordered some for themselves because they were so impressed with it. You can bash these without worrying about breaking them within reason! Even in the rain! Yes they are waterproof, more so than I expected, but still wouldn't advise getting it fully submerged (although I took mine through some huge mud puddles, and still all good). I do suggest you clean and WD-40 after running it in the harsh elements to keep it alive and well. I would say the only weak points or cons so far I have found are: -Body shell is thin and will crack quick. However you can cure this by gorilla taping the inside of the shell. It will do wonders, especially where the body mount holes are. While it does add minor weight, it makes the body able to hold up to the abuse the rest of the RC can endure. -Body clips are super thin and these RCs will shed them the first time you roll or flip it. Highly recommend ordering extras and having them on hand when you go out and bash. I ordered some 1/16 clips by apex on Amazon and they are much heavier duty and will actually stay in, plus they come in a pack of 100 so if you do lose one you have tons of spares. -Battery that comes with it does not give you much run time, maybe 10 mins maximum. It also doesn't unleash the true potential of these little RCs. I highly recommend buying a LiPo for it (search "7.4v 1100 mAh LiPo JST", there are a couple options. These are the batteries for WLtoys A949, A959, A969, A979 and A929 and will fit into the HBX Rampage, Hailstorm, and Rachet. You just have to move the screw up one hole on your battery hold down). These batteries are probably the biggest upgrade you can do along with adding the upgraded oil shocks. Turns this thing into a little animal with added punch and acceleration, along with 2x or more the runtime. Only thing is to be mindful about not running the battery too low as I do not believe the ESC has a LiPo cutoff so if you run it too low it can damage the LiPo. -Shocks that come stock are friction style without oil and are extremely bouncy and make it a bit hard to control, and do not protect the chassis from bottoming out so you will bang it up quick. The upgraded oil shocks available for these are completely worth it. Highly recommend. Makes this RC go from toy to hobby grade. The only part I have broke on these is a part in the steering assembly. I would say this is the only weak link in this whole platform. I wish they had an upgrade for it but unfortunately they do not. Just be aware this is the part to check after hard hits and crashes. I have broke 2 on 2 separate occasions. Both were probably my fault as I'm not easy on these at all but as stated before, it is a weak point. What makes it even tougher is the part is not available from anywhere in the USA and has to be ordered from China. It took about 3 weeks for me to get so if you do break this part be expecting a bit of down time. I would also recommend buying extras if and when you do order it. (HBX part# 18109). Overall, I can't say enough good things about this little RC, it has been one of the best most reliable and fun RCs I have ever owned, period. Highly recommend. Thing will take abuse and just keep going, and has great performance to boot. I always bring one in a backpack when I go out bashing any of my other RCs and always end up ending the bash session with it! (My little Ole reliable!) Battery initially took all day to charge. Drove it around the park in the grass and tennis courts for 1 charge cycle in slow mode and seemed to work well. Then took home to charge. I thought it odd that it only took about an hour to charge the second time. Took it to a dusty ball diamond and drove it on high speed kicking up lots of dust. It only lasted 10min. and the bottom of the car was hot when the battery died. It was about 85° outside. Took it home to clean & charge again. Because it is described as water proof, I briefly rinsed it off under the faucet with the body cover removed. After the battery was charged I plugged it back into the RC truck. The RC lights began flashing rapidly and the transmitter would not connect with the truck and it remained unresponsive. It does this with both batteries. Either the dust or the water killed it. Maybe it'll work when it's fully dried out tomorrow. I'll be returning it if it doesn't work tomorrow which is dissappointing as it is advertised as a robust RC vehicle. UPDATE: Turns out there must be a safety mechanism that senses moisture and won't let it run until it's completely dry. Worked fine the following day. My 4 year old is loving it! Pros: holding up and performing well, seems durable, great runtime on slow mode which is plenty fast for technical terrain and little kids. Cons: Haiboxing company is suspect. Their website is incomplete/non-functioning. I think getting parts and support might be a problem. I emailed them and have not received a reply in over a week. Time will tell. Overall feel it's a good starter RC value when bought on discount. I paid $66

I absolutely love this truck. I got it for myself because I wanted to have some fun when we go to the farm or in my parking lot. The batteries last a long time probably over 20 minutes each. The suspension is excellent and so is the quality. It is very fast and a lot of fun in high speed and even in low speed. My wife’s brother saw and he decided he wanted one as well. Now we build a little track and race. I hope it lasts a long time. Excellent purchase.

Amazing! What a great product. I love it, the kids love it, it is an absolute blast. It has a slow mode and the kids are solid on it in that mode. In normal mode, it is great fun for me. Way better than the $30-50 models that break all the time. This thing is made to last.

I have over 20 years of RC experience flying model airplanes with some toy level RC Cars and Boats. Lately, I have taken an interest in taking a low-cost step up in the RTR RC vehicle area. This will be my report on my new truck. While I plan to use this to teach my 4 year old Grandson, the truck is for me. Goals - Able to run on my lawn Proportional steering and throttle A training tool for my Grandson So far, I am impressed with this relatively low-cost package. I look at this as an entry-level RC hobby class vehicle rather than a toy class package. Your smileage may vary. For the price, you get a full package that works well, but you can upgrade it. Reports I have read say the upgrades make a big difference, but I like it just the way it is, at least for now. Batteries - It includes two hobby-grade 2-cell 850 mah lithium batteries. There is no C rating on the batteries. The batteries have balance plugs and use the same Deans connectors I use for my RC airplanes. To my surprise, the included USB charger cable does a good job of charging these 2-cell batteries.You have to supply the charging block. After charging, I pulled out my test equipment, and sure enough, the batteries were charged to 8.12V, about 95% of a full charge for this type of Lipo. I checked the balance on the cells, and they were properly balanced. Motor - The motor is listed as a 380 brushed motor. (There is a brushless upgrade kit available.) After running the truck in my yard and in the street, it has plenty of power. Radio/Throttle -The hand control is a side steering wheel style. Throttle control is fully proportional and includes reverse. It has a low-speed and high-speed setting, which can limit the top speed. This will be helpful when teaching my Grandson. When I took it to the street and set it to the low/slow setting, the truck was still fast enough to be fun with smooth turns. When set on Normal/high, this baby flies down the street. Make a hard turn at top speed, and it goes through an exciting skidding turn and can even spin, but remains stable. I have not seen any tendency to flip. I was messing around to get a feel for the slide and bashed into the curb. No damage! Steering - The steering is fully proportional and provides smooth control. Body - This has a pickup truck-style thin shell body that is held on with 4 clips. It has hard bumpers, front and back, to help you avoid damage to the body. It comes with a thin plastic film over the body that the instructions say to remove. I plan to leave the film on to help with endurance. Amazon reviews say the clips that secure the body are easy to lose. They do include an extra set of clips, but the ones that came attached look plenty secure to me. I presume the risk is more about dropping them in the grass. Water - The specs indicate that this is highly water-resistant, so it should withstand wet grass, mud, and puddles. They do caution against submerging it. There are upgrade options that offer a brushless motor and ESC/Receiver. You can get upgraded shocks, and additional batteries. I believe there is a tire package, too. My Grandson and I are in for a fun time with this truck.

Update! Ok manual states charger will have solid red light and blinking green light while charging. Both batteries when put on the charger seem to be charging, as the red light is on and green light blinking. After 3.5 hours of charging per battery neitherof them finished charging, or atleast the charger status claimed they never did. I wnet ahead and pulled them off the charger to run them. 15 minutes of run time tops per battery. Ad states 40 minutes of runtime for 2 batteries. I am missing 10 minutes of run time lol. Overall kinda disapponiting the batteries charger for over 2 hours for a whopping 15 minutes of fun. Despite the reverse situationand the short battery life. The truck is a lil firecracker! Fast and will take a beating. Mixed feelings but defintely fun to play with. Wish the batteries lasted longer. I can get over the reverse but hourse of charging for 15 minutes is kinda disheartening. So after reading the manual i realized apparently the truck is set up to operate the brake/reverse the way it does so the complaint down below is invalid. no malfunction. But i dislike the way the reverse has to be engaged disengaged and engaged again if you want to go into reverse while you are traveling forward. I dont like the fact you can go from reverse to forward but not forawrd to reverse. ( Original review )... Out of the box truck is small and doesn't seem like anything special. Upon picking it up I noticed it had some weight to it. Upon further inspection I pulled the body off. Looking every inch over, I realized this is a well built machine. No defects that can be visually noticed. Now on to the controller. It is cheaply made. Comparable to remotes from RC's at Wal-Mart. No biggie though. Steering reverse button is sunken below the surface of the controller, which makes it difficult to switch the button back and forth. No biggie, as I don't plan on using it. The normal and slow button is barely above the surface just enough to get your finger on it so that's good. Now the operation of the unit. I like that it had normal and slow mode. I started out in my living room on slow. First thing I noticed was that when traveling forward, I pushed the trigger from forward to reverse and the truck slowed to a stop. I then had to let off of the trigger and push it again to go into reverse. Surely this is not how that is suppose to work. If you try go from forward to reverse the truck does not respond. Kinda frustrating. Makes the truck less fun to drive. Despite the reverse malfuntion the truck is fast and handles pretty good for how small it is. On gravel the truck bounces a lot. Doesn't do very well in uncut grass but will go through it. On pavement it is fun. Ramping it is a blast. Will do donuts on pavement. I don't like that the shocks are plastic but atleast they are adjustable. Adjusting the shocks definitely improves the handling. I also purchased the oil filled. Have yet to install. ( have installed oil filled shocks since original review) they work so much better than the factory plastics. Overall I like the truck. Disappointed in the reverse malfunction situation but I reached out to Amazon they ask if I wanted to return it. I opted to talk to the manufacturer first. I just messaged them so hopefully they can resolve my issue. Would have given this 5 stars had the reverse malfunction wasn't an issue. If they cannot help me I will be returning

Our 5 year old son absolutely loves this RC car. It is incredibly fast, good quality and withstands lots of rough rising on dirt, grass and doing jumps. Comes with 2 batteries which is great to keep using while the other battery charges. Charge lasts well and not too long to recharge. My husband is so impressed with it he plans to get one for himself too! Well worth the money.

Bought this for my daughter based off good reviews. The first few times we started it up, both front wheels would pivot to the right, and no amount of trim adjustment could get them lined up straight. This made it really difficult to drive and we had to constantly fight it to keep it driving in a straight line. I tried to find solutions online, but they were all related to adjusting trim or doing something to the servo motor. I had no interest in taking it apart to fix. Just wanted it to work. Cut to today: we fired it up and the wheels auto straightened themselves out properly and we drove it full tilt without issue. The only thing I can attribute this to is that my daughter ran it full speed into the curb 4 or 5 times. Maybe this shook something loose which helped the alignment? I don’t know. All I know is that this thing is a rocket and pretty fun to drive. My kid is 9 and has no trouble controlling it even at full speed (now that it drives straight). The “slow” mode is still really fast, and great for when my 7 year old wants a turn. I’m 3 days, it’s held up to curb flips, rolling across the lawn, and front impacts at almost full speed. Nothing has broken yet, but the headlight popped out (easy to stick back in). For $100 I don’t think we could ask for much more. If the alignment issue comes back, I’d change my review to 3 stars, but as it is now, it’s 5.

Amazing RC car, my kids love it and play with it everyday. It comes with spare battery, so you have double time to play with it. Also has 2 mode speed, one for learning purpose. Body made well, it was heavy beat up and still working fine. Runs through the water fine as well. I would definitely recommend for kids gift or even adults would enjoy playing with it:)
