Works flawlessly with Mac (unlike many other back up drives)!
Amazing product! Out of the box, I was able to back up my entire drive (0.5 TB) in under 2 minutes. Blazing speed and super easy to set up and configure (literally, plug and play). Only minor point--I wish it came with a protective case / sleeve. Overall, completely satisfied and would strongly recommend this product for Mac users who desire to have a super-fast and easy to use backup drive!

All Aces so Far
This drive was totally plug-n-play when I connected it to my Mac Pro. Completely no-brainer. It just works, which is what I like. Seems made well. Hopefully so, since it wasn't cheap!

Plug and Play with the iMac 24 M1 2021 with OS Big Sur
It's pricey but works perfectly so it's worth it. Never gets hot. Really fast (don't know data rate) connected to the Thunderbolt port. So, far, a real jewelJust bought my second one (2/2025). But, compared to the first (from 2021), the cable went from about 26 inches long to 11 inches which I don't appreciate. Now using this with Sequoia 15.1.1 without a problem.

Remarkable
Fast, reliable, and expensive. If you need it you know and will gladly spend the money. Highly recommended. I have it attached to Cal-Digit TS4 Thunderbolt Dock and it's fantastic.

Actual storage space is less than advertised.
This is advertised as 4.0 TB storage, but my MacBook Pro says it is only 3.84 TB. It is a shame, because its transfer speed is very fast.

OWS drive is perfect for large photo libraries
I purchased the 4 TB version to serve as the external drive on my Mac Studio M1 Max for my (large) Lightroom and Apple Photos photo libraries. The speed of this drive is exceptional and perfect for large photo libraries (78K in Lightroom, 37K in Photos). LightRoom images load almost instantly. There is no observable delay as you click from one photo to another. I'm just sorry that I didn't get this earlier. I have a number of OWS devices, and they have always been top-notch. Maybe a bit pricey, but the performance and reliability are well worth it.

Works great but you have to pay to manage it
This is a well made SSD with great performance.I contacted OWC tech support to see if there was a way for me to get information about the drive itself (hardware errors, firmware version, etc.). They directed me to their softRAID management software. That costs anywhere from $49.99 up to $249.99. While there is a 14 day free trial for the software, OWC should provide a free basic tool that allows SSD users to do basic management tasks on their SSD. Directing a user to a tool that costs up to 50% of the original cost of the SSD is ridiculous.

Very Capable Drive
Sadly, I had to return this powerful little piece of tech. I realized after doing days of research that it was simply too much drive for my wife's needs. It would be like having an 800 HP Ferrari parked in the driveway but all you ever used it for was driving 50 feet to the mailbox and back. I will own one of these beauties some day (don't tell my wife please) but in the meantime I settled for a much less capable drive which cost about 1/4th as much. For simply storing data it will be more than enough. If you want to edit 4K video all day long without the thing getting hot or even breathing hard, then the OWC Envoy pro NVME drive is your ticket to paradise. Pro Tip: Never shop emotionally. Shop smart. If you need power and speed the smart thing to do is get the Envoy Pro. If you just need simple storage get a USB SATA drive like I did and save your money.
