An excellent introduction to Greek/Roman and Norse mythology.
The Good:This is an excellent book that tells the stories of the the Greco-Roman gods and goddesses as well as the immortals of Norwegian lore. The prose is well-written and very understandable.I first read Edith Hamilton's "Mythology" well over 50 years ago and the anniversary edition is superior to the original in many ways. The illustrations are very nice and the overall quality of the book is outstanding. If you want a good understanding of mythology, this is an excellent place to start! The Not So Good:Good news is there was little to criticize. Previous reviewers mentioned poorly sequenced pages (none found by me), inadequate packaging resulting in crunched cover corners (relatively minor but present on my edition) and finger prints and smears on an otherwise beautiful dust jacket (unfortunately, obvious on my copy).I hope that Amazon or the publisher considers offering pristine dust jackets to verified purchasers but won't hold my breath.Even with the above criticisms, Edith Hamilton's 75th Anniversary edition of "Mythology" deserves 5 stars.

Best summary on greek mythology - Buy the 75th anniversary edition to get most out of it
I just looooove greek mythology! I have been loving it since I was a little girl. This book by Edith Hamilton is wonderful, especially the 75th edition with illustrations by Jim Tierney, which is just lovely and certainly beautiful. Of course, concerning the text you must have a little knowledge about the myths (also the philosophers) and the complex world of the greek to fully enjoy and comprehend it. I have been, among other things, reading different fiction books on the topic, e.g. books by Mary Renault and Madeleine Miller. Edith Hamilton is a very good writer and gives a good try to mention and quote the poets like Homer, Hesiod, Ovid, Homeric Hymns, but she also mention philosophers like Virgil and Plato, which is interestning. And by that, the book gives you more if you actually have knowhow to these gentlemens. The book is definitely worth buying and reading. Such a beautiful piece to have in your bookshelf. I would recommend it to everyone that is into the world of greek mythology and its poets and philosophers.

Beautiful book in hardcover
I love the cover design for the hardcover 75th edition. This book is definitely a good and interesting read. And after looks amazing on a coffee table. I had this book recommended to me by a friend and happy that I got it.My only disappointment is with the packaging and shipping of the book, mine came with one of the corners a bit bent. But I guess in the long run give a look to the book.

Review regarding the binding/quality
The pages are high quality, the binding is nice, and it is well-made! I'm surprised that this is only $7 more than the paperback. The material itself is obviously great, Hamilton's work is well-known as one of the best introductions to Greek Mythology. A worthy purchase.

great!
Mythology (75th Anniversary Illustrated Edition): Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes is a captivating journey into the rich tapestry of ancient myths that has left me both enchanted and enlightened. This anniversary edition is a visual feast, with its stunning illustrations that breathe new life into the timeless tales. The storytelling prowess of Edith Hamilton is undeniable, and this edition pays a fitting tribute to her classic work. The narratives of gods and heroes come alive on the pages, weaving a tapestry that transcends time and culture. Hamilton's ability to distill complex myths into accessible and engaging stories is commendable. The inclusion of illustrations adds a delightful layer to the reading experience. The artwork not only enhances the visual appeal of the book but also provides a helpful visual reference for readers unfamiliar with the intricacies of Greek mythology. The illustrations strike a balance between being evocative and respectful of the source material. One aspect that sets this edition apart is its comprehensive nature. It covers a wide range of myths from various cultures, offering readers a holistic understanding of the subject matter. The organization of the tales is thoughtful, allowing for an immersive reading experience that flows seamlessly from one story to the next. While the book is undoubtedly a treasure trove of mythological knowledge, I withheld one star as some readers may find the content slightly dense. The wealth of information packed into each page can be overwhelming for those new to mythology. However, for enthusiasts and those with a keen interest in the subject, this book is a gem.In conclusion, Mythology (75th Anniversary Illustrated Edition) is a must-have for anyone intrigued by the timeless tales of gods and heroes. Its blend of captivating storytelling, comprehensive coverage, and visually stunning illustrations make it a worthy addition to any bookshelf. Despite its density, the allure of the myths and the artistry of the illustrations make this edition a four-star read that will transport you to the realms of ancient legends.
