Good Book, Missing Pages
The story and writing are excellent. Cornelia Funke never disappoints. It definitely has some intense scenes and themes, and the villain is quite creepy and cold so sensitive kids might need to hold off on this book for a while. My 12 year old would be okay but I think it might be a bit much for my sensitive 10 year old. However, we’ve had this book for a few months and I’m just now getting around to reading for pleasure because I’m sick and I got this far only to realize 33 pages are missing. Egads! How does that even happen? Amazon helped to make it right I just wanted to review so anyone ordering can be on the lookout to make sure their copy is whole before their return window closes like mine did. Silly me, not thinking to make sure all pages were accounted for when I received the book. ><

awesome book
Inkheart is a captivating and imaginative story that transports readers to a world where books come to life. The plot revolves around a young girl named Meggie and her father Mo, a bookbinder with a unique talent for bringing characters from books into the real world. The characters are well-developed and complex, with realistic flaws and strengths. Meggie is a relatable protagonist, struggling to understand the secrets her father has kept from her and trying to navigate the dangerous world of Inkheart. Mo is a fascinating character, haunted by his past and grappling with the consequences of his actions. What I love most about this book is its vivid descriptions of the settings and characters. The world-building is rich and immersive, with detailed descriptions of the magical elements that bring the story to life. The writing style is engaging and lyrical, making it a pleasure to read. The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping the reader engaged and eager to turn the page. The themes of family, love, and sacrifice are explored in a thoughtful and thought-provoking way, adding depth and complexity to the story.Overall, I highly recommend Inkheart to anyone looking for a captivating and well-written fantasy novel. It is a must-read for fans of the genre, and will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.

Read as a child, brought back good memories and still stands up
I first read Inkheart when I was about eleven years old, reading it again 20 years later was so refreshing. I cannot wait to re-read the other books to build up to Funke’s new release.

One of my Favorite Books!
I know this is intended as a children's book, but it's one where the intended reader is not talked down to. It's not just for children, but for adults, too. If you want a book to read to your kid that won't bore you, this and the sequels are great for that! The premise of the book is that it's possible for someone who reads really well, and who reads aloud extremely well to read out loud SO well that the story they're reading not only feels like it comes alive, but that the story and the whole universe actually DOES come alive, and the universe in the book touches this one, and the characters in the book can move into our universe, and people from here can move into the books. In the story, Mo is one of these excellent readers, and one night, while reading an adventure story to his wife and baby daughter, he accidently brings some characters out of the book. Only later does he realize that his wife has disappeared!Even worse, adventure stories may be exciting to read about, but would be very unpleasant to live through, and the characters he lets into this universe are not all ones you'd like to be friends with. The story is told from the viewpoint of the baby, about 11 years after her mom's disappearance, and develops into a fantastical adventure story of her own, along with Mo, her aunt, and some friends.Cornelia Funke writes a story that comes alive and seems to dance off the pages of the book and into your heart.Don't miss Inkspell and Inkdeath, too!
