Awesome fire, but not a calm gaslight replacement...
So, I've bought a few of these bulbs in the recent past (6 months or less) and returned them because the flame effect looked too fake or the colors were terribly off. I'm keeping this one because it looks way more like real fire than the other three or so that I ordered in the past. That said, you never know from Amazon order to the next Amazon order if you're getting the same thing, but the one I got was pretty darn good. Colors are ok, flame effect is decent, to the point that the neighbor across the street called and asked if our house was on fire. As with all these bulbs, the closer you get to it, the more "pixelation" that you can see. I'm keeping this one for Halloween and campfire effects, but I can't say I'll replace the bulbs on the front of my driveway, as they're just too "animated". I'll continue looking for a relaxed, gaslight LED bulb. This bulb, as others that I've tried, are just too much flicker... Still 5 stars for being the most realistic LED flame bulb I've tried so far...

Wow! Very nice! 5 years non-stop 24/7 and still going!
UPDATE 5 years later. This LED light acts just like a real flame. It doesn't have a noticeable pattern of repeating, which makes it appear to be natural flame. It is so realistic that I've have people ask me if it's really a real flame. This light has been running non-stop day and night in my front yard lamp post for the last 5 YEARS! I never turn it off. It's still going! It lights up my yard enough for me to walk and navigate without tripping over anything. It's plenty of light but don't expect it to act like a flood light. It's as bright as a fire flame. If you were to light a rag torch, that's how bright this light is. It's very realistic. I bought two of these and keep one as a replacement for after the first one burns out some day. I will be buying another one eventually to replace the second one. So, do I recommend this light? Yes.

Works exactly as promised - the flicker is realistic and beautiful.
Works exactly as promised - the flicker is realistic and beautiful. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because my light fixture needs bulbs that you screw upwards into the socket, and these bulbs are not actually made for that (they are made for screwing downward into a socket), but it looks good enough for me. From the street, the animation looks like real flames, and the eye doesn't really notice or care which way the flames are moving. But I REALLY wish the manufacturer would make these bulbs for upward OR downward usage.

Good Hacker's Pumpkin Light
The media could not be loaded. In previous years I've tried various methods to light up a pumpkin on Halloween, most either burned out before the night was over, blew out, smelled awful, had a terrible color, or were just not bright enough.I was looking for a good flame simulation light to put inside a Jack-o'-lantern for Halloween this year. I didn't want to have to run power to this bulb, and I was willing to void a warranty and destroy a product to get the look I was after. I found this bulb well reviewed on YouTube, so I gave it a shot. I tired it in a standard lamp socket first and the flame was a good pattern. I found that it was easy to take apart, the white top is a snap fit to the base, but you have to be careful not to destroy the LED tube inside the diffuser. Inside I found what appeared to be an Off-The-Shelf +5VDC USB power supply soldered to the screw base, and the circuit board for the flicker was happily just connected to the High Voltage power supply by two Low Voltage DC wires. Using a bench supply I confirmed that the flame effect functioned well from a range of about 2.3VDC to 5VDC, with significant dimming below 3.5VDC. Easy, three AA batteries (1.5V each) in series +OOO-+OOO-+OOO- gives 4.5V. The first picture is of the diffuser simply taped to the Circuit board to keep it centered, with a copper tape (Like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MR5DSCM) bonded pack of 3xAA batteries, second picture is holding the one loose wire to turn on the lamp. To protect the circuit board and batteries, I simply put them inside a quart Zip-Lock bag and set the whole thing in the pumpkin. Some reviewers have said that they can make out the individual LEDs in this lamp, but in my experience, I can't discern them from beyond an arm's length or so.Third picture is the LED-flame-light lit Jack-O-Lantern on the left, it is easily competitive with a large candle (the two other bright Jack-O-Lanterns to the right), and obviously did not blow out like the dim Jack-O-Lantern. The flicker was more interesting than the steady large candles (unless a gust of wind came through, in which case we'd have to re-light them). The porch here is lit well enough to read comfortably by the Orange glow of the light strings.Run time with 3xAA, I turned on the fixture with new Duracell AA Red-label batteries at 3PM on 31-Oct, today is 4-Nov, and the bulb is still flickering (noticeably dimmer, but still visible in the pumpkin on the shaded porch on a cloudless day). It had lost its high brightness by noon the day following initial power up, but I'm sure it'll still be putting out visible light at a week. Here's a short video of the Left-most <<<< pumpkin with this LEDTek Flame Bulb inside running on 3xAA after removing the base and HV-to-LV power supply. I will be buying several more of these to do all of the family pumpkins from now on, and will be moving to a plastic battery holder (like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MDQ7SI6) hot glued to the bottom.LEDTek, you might think to put something out like this as a product, maybe figure out how to slip/load the batteries inside the LED tube so the device stays as short as possible, with a low center of gravity, and a water resistant base (pumpkin insides are often wet).

Orange-y color
I Love the flicker of this light bulb. The color of the 'flame' is very orange, vs a more yellowy color of a true flame. I ended up removing the bulb from my outside light fixture due to the orange color. If you like orange, you will likely love this. I did love the effect of the flicker, just thought the color really made it look fake/cheap.

Has the most realistic flame effect.
I love that this bulb has 1 mode which is FLAME EFFECT and that it also works upside down. I'm using this on 6 wall sconces wired to an on/off switch. This is where the 1 mode (flame effect) is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. When the switch is on, all bulbs are flame because it is the only mode. OTHER flame effect bulbs that have 3 to 4 modes ( constant on, flame, strobe, sweep ) will not work on a multiple light circuit. The reason is everytime the switch is turned off then on again, the mode for each individual bulb will change and not stay on the one you want. The multi mode FLAME bulbs are fine if using in a single bulb lamp, then you can switch modes at will. But for a multiple light circuit where you want flames only, this is the bulb to get. I also have many different led flame effect bulbs and this is the best most realistic one I've seen.
