One of the best
Ignore the bad comments on here, they either have a broken one or they have rubbish gear feeding it, no point if you use it direct from a mobile. If you do have any amp or a dedicated headphone amp then these are incredible and for the price, unbeatable. They have a more treacle timbre, so if your after transparency only then these won't be for you, but would still recommend just to try something different especially for the price. They are quite light but on the large size, but not uncomfortable in any way and could be worn all day with no issues. The bass is incredible as the size of the cups shows why this is the reason. Mids, highs are succulent and not washed out with the bass, so separation is spot on.I would not have been upset for paying the $600 when they firsy come out, So basically for the price of these now get some.

Excellent for vintage rock - not so good for everything else.
I have been an avid headphone user for many decades now. Whilst I like to think that during this time I have had some really nice audio equipment pass through my hands, the truth is that, with the exception of my old vinyl-based speaker system, I’ve always tried to get the best equipment possible with my limited budgets. In the past I have had some of the best ‘Discman’ players, some of the best MiniDisc Player/Recorders. In the past I have had several dedicated MP3 players as well but I tend to now use a regular mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra) coupled wirelessly (and sometimes wired) to a Fiio BTR7 DAC/AMP and, when using fully-sized headphones, the Sennheiser HD598SR headphones. I also have an embarrassing amount of wired and wireless IEM’s - all of which are used regularly.I recently was given a £100 gift voucher from my workplace and decided I wanted to try out some new full-sized headphones - and was considering either planar magnetic or even headphones made from wood - in an attempt to achieve a ‘fuller’ sound than that found with my Sennheiser’s. With this in mind - I ended up getting neither. I ended up getting the Hifiman HE-R9’s. A plastic, huge, ugly headphone with a really strange sound character. There’s no point in going into a detailed description of these headphones. There are plenty of videos and on-line reviews out there which cover just about every physical detail of these headphones - I see no point in reinventing the wheel. What I will say is that they’re comfortable - even for long listening sessions. However I would still describe these as more on-ear than over-ear. Whilst sound doesn’t tend to leak out of them too much, they are not very good at isolating you from the outside world.Admittedly I watched a number of YouTube video reviews of these headphones prior to them arriving and had some serious doubts that these would be suitable for me. Under normal circumstances I like a neutral, punchy sound from my headphones - the HE-R9’s are true to their YouTube reviews - ‘bass monster’ is a pretty accurate description. When I first listened to them my first reaction was that these weren’t for me under any circumstances. My initial impressions of these headphones have changed somewhat. Whilst there’s no getting away from the fact that these are bass monsters, they really do play very nicely with vintage 70’s and 80’s rock. Bands like Rush, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Queen - all sound truly wonderful through these headphones. The additional bass ‘bloom’ from the R9’s really make these recordings come alive. The sheer hugeness of these headphones offer increased width to the soundstage which you just cannot find with other headphones. The end result is a very dynamic sound with deep punchy bass and a smooth midrange and treble response which offers a truly relaxing and enjoyable sound.Unfortunately these headphones don’t work with all music types. Quiet female vocals - e.g. Sade, Mary Black, Tori Amos - all sound quite horrible through these headphones - strangely I listened to Sam Brown and it sounded wonderful - it’s quite hard to anticipate which recordings will work and which will not. With this in mind, I can’t help thinking that these have to be considered a secondary set of headphones - for those recordings which work well with them - your primary set will be the ones you use for the rest. For me, ultimately, I decided to send them back and go for the Hifiman Deva Pro’s (thanks to a sudden Amazon discount) and I don’t regret doing this one bit. The Deva’s offer a far more appropriate sound character which lends itself to a far wider range of genres.ProsLovely warm, rich sound. Comfortable. Impactful sound character for bass and drums. Surprisingly detailed mids and treble with absolutely no harshness. Sounds surprisingly good with lesser hardware but does upscale nicely. Works great with Rock and some EDM.ConsReally cannot be considered as your primary set of headphones due to their excessive bass. Actually needs to be driven fairly hard in order to get the best possible sound quality. Not good for classical, folk or some female vocals.

Unlike anything else I have tried - is that good or bad?
These are all about Bass and Soundstage, both of which they cope with in spades. The mids and treble are recessed. If you like bass (a lot) then these may be for you, but for me, after a good tryout, they just weren't right - not that I disliked them as such, I think what they do they do well, but I just can't see myself reaching for them as daily drivers over my other headphones. I will say they are extremely light and comfortable though. I would be inclined to view these being more aimed at gamers than music listeners, unless you are a drum and bass-head. Just not right for me.

Cuffie mervigliose

No escribo reseñas nunca. Saludos.

Ugly but powerfull
It's not a pair of headphones to use outdoors but it's fantastic for techno music, i am using it with a Fiio K7 and a balanced cable and couldn't be happier. It is also very confortable and light to use.

Hifiman HE-9 WOW!
