Rain Collection Barrel-Lawn & Garden, Black

This is a very sturdy, practical rain barrel ! It may not be the most stylish one , but is a very practical one. It replaced a wooden rain barrel that was worn out , so it Was very easy to install … we did put a couple of foundation bricks under it, so it was easier to fill my watering can .. we recommend this rain barrel.

We bought 2 of these rain barrels and we are so glad we did! They are heavy-duty, and have a strong (fine mesh) screen in the center of the concave lid. The lid is on a hinge for easy cleaning of the interior and has an overflow hose to drain water away. The faucet/handle is heavy duty brass. We placed ours on 2 layers of cinder blocks to raise the barrels about 12" from the ground.

This is my second rain barrel. I like the overall design: the tap is low enough to access most of the water; the shape of the lid funnels the water; the screen keeps out mosquitoes and debris. On the down side the screw on lid my be good for keeping out children, but I prefer to keep the lid down with bungee cords so I can check the water level and siphon out the last of the water.

The best rain barrel! Wish it shipped faster but I think I’ve been too spoiled by Prime shipping... we have two of these and love them.

I have other rain barrels and they are not as sturdy. But the real winning feature is that the top is removable so that it can be cleaned out each season!

I regret purchasing this. My first complaint was the barrel came mainly unassembled. I had to attach the spigot to the barrel, which itself is made with plastic little thicker than a cheap trash can. But the worst part was when I installed it in its permanent location (on a 2'x2' paver), it ended up cracking less than a year after purchase. Learn from my mistake and look for a much more sturdy rain barrel.

Good quality. Mine did have a brass (or some sort of metallic) hose spigot. The spigot tends to rotate around when you open or close the valve which is a bit annoying. the screen does a great job at keeping out leaves, bugs etc. I would prefer that the valve be located slightly lower in the bucket although the extra 10 gallons of water that is ALWAYS present in the bottom of the barrel keeps in place during windy storms, etc. The only biggish problem i had was that the overflowis only about 1/2" below the top of the barrel, which doesn't seem to enough height to drive out water fast enough before overflowing in heavyish rainstorms There is a sort of dam in the way, which I drilled a few holes in. This provided more flow area and seems to have fixed the overflow problem. With the exception of building your own rain barrel, this is the best solution i've come across.

I love this water catcher.. the price was great and works as it should. I'll be ordering another one shortly. Installed very easy.
